Tips on making sounds ravey
by that i mean bright, strong, a lot of bite, squelchy, sorta squeezed sounding, and rave......sounds that make crowds go wild, jokers leads are a good example, leads that rusko sometimes uses, electro leads can also be a good example
i've been trying my best by using saw waves, detuning them, using chorus, compression, and other things but i havent been able to get the squeezed and girthy yet bright and clean sound that i'm looking for......i was going to put this in the "how do i make this sound" thread but i'm looking for more general tips that i can apply in many different situations, esp for leads and midrange bass

Re: Tips on making sounds ravey
Square waves are more ravey maybe with a lower octive saw or organ or some shit, try using a bit of reverb but sidechain wet to the kick, so that when the kick hits the reverb is at its peak. put some chorus on its a bit of bitcrusher, maybe a hint of salt n delaysigmund floyd wrote:by that i mean bright, strong, a lot of bite, squelchy, sorta squeezed sounding, and rave......sounds that make crowds go wild, jokers leads are a good example, leads that rusko sometimes uses, electro leads can also be a good example

Re: Tips on making sounds ravey
i'd be careful with the distortion... use too much and you'll be missing out on the 'brightness' and sonic integrity you want for sounds like that.
layer the different waves with different tunings. bit of glide. pitch. a nice reverb to put it in its place and sprinkle some delay.
i also find resampling and mincing through a filter/eq to get what you want works good.

Though I did notice you were looking for a "clean, bright" sound, I think adding just a bit of distortion would help you get that sound you're looking for. Also, you may want to try adding in some sampled synth stabs or some sped-up R&B singer samples, if you're actually trying to make stuff evocative of 1992-era oldskool hardcore.
