Hello! This is ones close to done i need some fresh ears on it though, ive played it a million times myself and want to see if i can get some tips on where to go with the small things left before i call it done done done done.

more dramatic edits at the end of phrases? is the mix as tight as it could be ? any arrangement tips to get a better flow?

Thanks !

Sounds nice. I think perhaps that it's a bit 'foreward' sounding maybe some elements are a bit fat and need sitting back for dimension? A little too limited/compressed and needing a bit of dynamicfication?

aight i can roll with that..im notorious for over compression so i only used some on the whole mix none on individual tracks (it was hard to pull down other sounds in the mix rather than reaching for the compressor but im glad i did) i defintly can pull some sounds back a tad i feel that.

Agreed... from around 1:30 on there's just too much "going on" for me to separate out the individual elements.

My advice: put a lowpass filter on the bassline so that its higher frequencies dont get in the way of the strings, and just keep the main strings, get rid of the "eerie" string hit once you get to the body of the song. Focus on making each section coherent so that every part reinforces the groove; there's too much extra stuff in there right now.

If you clean it up I think it will kick ass though, I'm looking forward to hearing it when it's done!

That's the problem. We're going up against mastered tracks and we want that volume, so we squish things to get it up there.

I use a quad comp on my master outs and turn it on and off for a reality check during the mix process. Should sound good with or without compression. The final mix comp just should slap your peaks a bit and help glue everything together, in an ideal world. Let the MEs worry about volume.

:)

Cool stuff. Let us know when you've knocked your comp down a bit.

fuckin awesome feedback guys really appreciated, and coherent i can really get to work on this form what youve said and i think your totally right. alot of times people either get to vauge or to technical and conveluted in giving advice but im with ya on these. THANKS!

regarding the "eerie" sound wich is what i named it in the track ;) what if i moved it so it didnt hit when the strings hit the higher note and brought the volume down a lil might that work? might have to try and find out of course but thats one thing i was unsure about whether those two sounds were ok ontop of eachother.

also one of the drum tracks i think is a lil loud it comes in around 1/2-3/4 through the first drop/main bulk of the song.

less verb all around might let things poke through a lil, every non-drum non-bass sound is wired one clean and one totally wet into the mixer .

......time to get grindin' on this.

I think if you sort out the comp, you'll hear what the parts are doing a bit and be able to suggest arrangement stuff. I can't get a feel for the pulse, so if you another version for us...

:)

Try putting a little pre-delay on your verb for some space. You can time it to the beat of the track, if you're good with the calculator. Try doing it by about a 32nd note or so. Any more and the gap is obvious.

Those verbs are best used for effects anyway - Something that goes from dry to a big wet hit every now and again gives it some massive depth. If it's an occasional thing and it's perceived as bigger when it does happen.

Press, yeh that tracks sounding nice. didn't hear the verison before you changed the compession n that, but yeh, sounds good. Dirarachno is a heavy dnb tune...the synths are phat.

Just a random comment, not directly to you Press, but just thought of it.A good piece of advice that i was given was that some many producers produce like teens with raging hormones...streight to the fucking, no forplay or a nice bottle of wine before hand. Gotta leave space and time..he then said he felt sorry for my girlfriend lol.
Yeh i donno if that makes sence to you all, it links well with dubstep i rekon, with the whole over crouding and too much going on..i think about it when im producing. Not that im one to give advice my productions far from what i want it to be :x but mite help some people out

Going back to bed...plane was delayed 7 hours last night from geneva cuz of wind in london =/
