Well Bishock 2's DLC is already on the game and you are basically paying for the key to unlock it.

Dickheads

(Mind you, it doesn't affect me because I've already completed and sold the game)

Seems like a fine idea to me.. game developers gotta make cash somehow

DLC is one of the biggest rip offs of our time

The point of DLC is to keep developing a game after it is made, fine idea

But to deliberately hold back a part of the game when it is already made is scandalous to be honest

You wouldn't want to go to club and then get charged to get on the dancefloor would you?

Another poster on another forum puts it better than me:
this is a very serious issue and affects a large number of games, for a good read up on it all check out this month's gamestm magazine as they did a feature on it, titled 'the great DLC swindle'.

some other examples:

- dead space content from EA was already on the disc
- assassins creed 2 missing memory, an intrinsic part of the story was cut from the game to be held back and sold as DLC
- dragon age content is referred to and characters actually try to persuade you to buy it in game
- mass effect 2's cerberus DLC, where it was supposed to be free, soon has an extra character/mission coming on it for 560 points
- bethesda charged £2 for simply reskinning the horse in oblivion
- fighters that should have been in the main game were sold later for fight night 4
- strong suspicion that resi evil 5's versus mode was already on the disc as the DLC size was so small

don't get me started on street fighter 4 and super street fighter 4...

it's a load of shit this whole DLC crap, paying a premium for small amounts of content that companies are deliberately holding for the purpose instead of packaging it with the game is one of the worst things about this generation. it wasn't so long ago most content was free, and was given away to keep the product in high esteem with fans etc or provide more reasons for new customers to get on board, microsoft really kicked it all off in 2006 and it's got steadily worse.

pc gamers have consistently enjoyed free content, mods etc but as support for dedicated servers dwindles and companies look for more ways to combat piracy, paid for DLC is seen as an easy way to do it and free stuff will get rarer and rarer. it's a fact these days that most big releases have a fully planned out DLC schedule way before the game is even finished. not something i like knowing, that some of the best ideas for a game could be held back from a product in order to make more money on it later.

It's the norm. Makes sense really. Just seems cuntish paying for something which you physically 'have'.

i noticed more and more games having there own in-game store now, mass effect 2 is pretty good cause they give you quite a few free DLC's already and another one is coming up soon in which you can drive a hover craft

Gotta love free DLC on the PC, especially from Valve. The amount of updates they do for TF2 in insane :D
