Bouncers

Went to Hit and Run in Manchester tonight, and got there early, so thought we'd go to a nearby bar for a few drinks before heading to H+R. Was a group of us, about 8 lads, none of us meatheads or anything close, but fair enough the bouncers didn't want to let a group of that size in. Four of the group walked back to the other venue but even when it was just four of us the bouncer just flat out refused us entry, first on the grounds of not having student i.d, which we showed him, and then he just kept saying, "i don't need to have a reason"
We were polite throughout it all, and even wished him a good night when we got off, but Ive been pissed off literally the whole night. I have met very very few bouncers who aren't complete power-tripping-would be-policemen-if-only-they-had-more-than-the-one-required-braincell-pricks.
So.
Bouncers, stnuc or no?
Discuss.

stnuc...
i went to the scala in london to check out the redbull academy night, and some dude tried it on with my mates girl and got told to fuck off, so when the guy tried again (i mean if a bird tells you to fuck off you'd go right?? not this prick...)
he got threatened with an arse kicking, so this guy runs off to the bouncers getting 4 of us kicked out cos apparently there had been threats "on his life" so after spending all the money on tickets booking the day off work the next day, plus babysitter fee's and being in there only 2 hours we was seriously pissed off...
stnuc...

The only time I've ever had a problem with bouncers was after I puked all over a chicks face, so I rightfully deserved it.

Mostly dickeads
I got thrown out and punched a couple of times for smokin a spliff while watching Congo Natty at new year. That guy was a dick, with no common sense.
Sometimes they throw the actual troublemakers out, the ones startin on people etc.
That's when they're alright.

I know what you're saying. Why can't chicks be more accepting of our faults?? Nobody's perfect...

The thing that pisses me off is the fucking futility of complaining to/reasoning with them. If i was a fucking massive roided up meathead, there would never be any issues but being polite gets you absolutely nowhere, and theres fuck all you can do about it, bar complaining to the venue manager, which would get achieve nothing.
On a slight diversion does anyone know whether they can legally search wallets?
Im sure i heard that they couldnt.

I have no shame about it anymore, so please do lol.
To add more to this story: when my and my roommate were still 18, we had polished of a bottle of 151 before going out to some club, and then kept doing shots of it at the bar. So as I started to feel sick, I ran to the bathroom which was downstairs, but I ended up puking at the top of the stairs making it go all projectile into that girls face (who was at the very bottom). She just went into complete tears since a) she'd be puked on and b) she'd JUST gotten to the club.
Oh and this all happened at 10:30 PM
edit: My roommate ended up getting kicked out a half hour later for puking all over the dancefloor, slipping on it and cutting his face somehow, and then kept trying to dance. Fuckin ridiculous

"I believe you're over 18, I'm just not letting you in"
There's nothing better than hearing that when you can see all your mates sitting on the other side of the window.

Never had problems with bouncers before. They're usually fairly friendly even.

Can't speak for UK bouncers, but as someone who used to be a bouncer/doorman in a past life...
Like with peeps that wanna be police officers, it often comes down to motivation for taking the job. For example, when I started bouncing I was in college, 19 years old (and 6'5"/270 lbs.) - and was totally naive about the whole thing. Thought there was a hint of glamor to it, that I might get laid more, and that I would learn some stuff about "The Biz" in the process. I left 3½ years later with all illusions about that stuff totally destroyed. There's no glamor, the women that do put out were scary as fuck, and I learned enough about music & promotion business to know I never wanted anything to do with the business side again if I could help it. So it was a learning experience after all, just not the one I thought it'd be.
Now, dudes who get into it because they're either too stupid to get a real job, because they like to beat up people, because they're powertrippin' fuckface losers who've always wanted to boss others around, well... things have a way of coming back to bite one on the ass and those guys are no exception. Believe it or not, I was one of the smallest dudes on staff at the club where I worked - not shortest, but physically so. These guys had biceps the size of my fuckin' head; many had extensive martial arts training or were collegiate [American] football players. Know what? As big and bad as anyone thinks they are, a lead pipe or tee-ball bat or knife or bullet or even a rock is all ya need to even the score. And if you were a dick to someone, then no matter how much of a badass you fancy yourself to be, someone will probably remember and want to come after you. Simple as that. Luckily I understood that already from having grown up in Chicago (the club was in the SF Bay Area in California) but lots of guys thought they were so untouchably macho that they could fuck with people with impunity... not so.

you my friend, are a fucking legend hahaha
On a serious note, i have a few bad experiences with bouncers, mainly at the clubs i dj at (not on the same night) . Last month me and a few mates got thrown out for NO reason at all, once i had been dragged out to the smokers area, i got slapped by one for questioning why i was getting thrown out 20 minutes after enterin, police then had the cheek to question us and send us on our not so merry way. The bouncers were very pleasant when i walked in the next evening with my record bag, i had no option but to be nice back (was trying to hustle a few friends in with me) stnuc the lot of em.
