I've never stole drums from anyone but I know it's a common practice. Who are some of the producers that leave their drums out barely processed for the taking?

I am kinda with you I mean I have done it, if there is a clean sample there that I like I'll grab it but sounds that are already processed to shit don't offer much flexibility. Live drummer breaks you can do anything with. Soul and funk is just the obvious places. I listen to a lot of classic rock and every day I hear something that needs to be stolen. Drums and just drums it doesn't really matter what style of music they come from.

I fucking love some of the 80's rock snares, think GnR style slamming stadium drums. Anyone know of any tracks that have the drums playing solo so i can try and cop one?

Make one! It offers more flexibility... The effect the 80's snares where renowned for is called a "Gated Reverb". It's pretty simple to make, just take a long reverb, and gate it over the original snare. Then adjust settings of the gate to get the length of the tail right. Compress to make punchier.

well, i´m sorry..if ya after sum gated reverb rock snares - my "urban drumz" might not be the right thing 4 ya, since it´s more a hiphop drum collection sampled from vinyl and then layered/tweaked and lightly processed...good portion of tape saturation at the end of my fx chain..so more the 90s east coast boombap style than GnR...

Best place to get drum samples and loops is youtube searches for 'drum playing' 'how to play drums' 'drumming technique', ect.

Some of those guys set up in real studios just to play solo'd hihat grooves, haha... pretty sweet way to doge out of quantization.

This is good stuff. Same applies for vocal lessons, a great way to get some clean and often pretty unique samples.

(nice tune by the way, I had to listen and see what your drums were like)
