Well I've tried almost everything to try and get that really subby fat, modular, digital sounding heavy bassline they have in like all of their tracks because it generally sounds great and i want to produce more like that, clean and crisp rather than adding a bitcrusher to everything and making loads of yoyoyoyoy jump up tunes like everyone else.. just wondering if anyone got any tips!? is it like an insert trick or something? or just fiddling around in a VST-i?
thanks nontheless.

oh i see ill have a try, the one thing i dont like about massive is it doesn't show you the bloody wave shapes of the oscialltors, they only have a name which is kinda stupid :/ im guessing you mean the first square waves, because ive been trying the digi waves and i just get a muddy sound!

Yeah they're usually square/ saw or whatever just whack the wavetable position all the way over to the square side
i'm pretty sure nero aren't using any weird wavetables, the basics usually have the strongest sound... but yeah the filter is the main force in their sounds i reckon, specially with all that high attack electro-ey percussive stuff. filter and the performer gets some pretty similar effects
sort of like the Something Else/Night Thunder sound (don't really like Nero but those tunes were awesome )

My guess would be a few squares/saws slightly detuned with a few different envelopes on the cutoff with varying attack/decay rates to give it that big sound. also try sticking envelopes on each individual osc rather than on the filter, makes it sound more complex and powerful.

it wouldnt let me download your thing, but yeah in this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NSLzyY1w6uM and in the song "this way", nero are sick if you dont listen to alot of their stuff you should! tight production and that, anyway ive ended up doing a more bar 9-ish tune haha! but yeah this is how far i am so far with it:
But does that make it neccisairly bad!? At least im trying to make something thats Musical and not just noise like most midrange tunes!

Did basically what they said above, played in the performer alot, and added a vocoder insert on the massive channel with about 40% wet, then bussed it to a send and compressed that send along with the other basses on that same send.

it should work in 20 mins or so, it's js a massive patch of wat i was talkin about
tune sounds gd tho, the performer can be useful for so much shit with b lines, gettin some really nice stuff goin with it lately...
yeah man definitely instead of just using the basic lfo shit, performer gives you more variety, mix it up with the stepper too and we got some sick basslines coming this is the first tune in ages im actually excited about haha ive lost my production "edge" recently and have just been giving up alot!
Im not sure about nero style bass,
but if you want to generally fatten out your basslines
i'd recommend sumo VST...adds a lot more impact to your
bass, and theres even a few presets for kicks, snares etc.

So to get the sound you did, you used one instqnce of massive or multiple? You say along with other basses, can you elaborate, thx!
