is dubstep currently your favorite genre?
I ask this because I see endless amounts of people posting on and on about other genres. One person goes on and on about Jungle, another user only posts when the subject is about metal, and every few weeks someone wants my opinion about electro, or wants to convert me to house music.

It is a great forum here, but even I can't say that dubstep is my FAVORITE genre... being a true music lover. But currently, the fresh talent in dubstep/bass music/future garage is really moving me.

I love dubstep with all my heart, but I couldn't really say it's my favourite genre anymore. Only nice old cheesy House; Dave Spoon and Fedde LaGrande.

...Downtempo + Hip-hop has held that honour for as long as I can remember.
Aaaaaaaaaaah.

I love Dubstep... I still reckon the highest proportion of great dance music is coming out under the Dubstep banner at the moment.

Re: is dubstep currently your favorite genre?
Dubstep isn’t my favourite genre but it’s the one that’s had the biggest influence on the music I listen to in recent years. Before that it was house / techno / hardcore / jungle / d&b / garage / breakcore.
Electronic dance music is my favourite genre and has been for 20 years.

to love a ''genre'' is wrong. this narrows your views and your listening expirience.
i love bass heavy music. and then, it depends what it actually is. and bass music.. that begins, in my opinion with 1967 rocksteady.

All genres that I listen too are my favourite. I honestly couldn't choose.

Re: is dubstep currently your favorite genre?
definitely not my favorite, maybe was for a few months a couple of years back.
i'd say in decending order
1. jazz jungle/drum funk/liquid jungle (whatever you choose to call it)
2. hip hop (mainly early 90's new york)
3. dub (everything from tubby to vibronics)
4. drum n bass (very specific and picky about it though!)
5. dubstep
6. reggae
7. everything else!

Re: is dubstep currently your favorite genre?
i think everyone is just burnt out that mainstream dubstep has pushed the wobble midrange mt eden underprouduced style, and beacuse this is so prominatly the face of "dubstep" now that its almost insulting to class the more dub, techno influenced producers under the same banner.
I dont even say I listen to dubstep anymore, beacuse of the endless "oh yeh you heard that new mt eden/doorly/jackwob remix of <popular chart tune>" responses I get, and then explaining that "im not into that sound" an ending up sounding a pretentious prick.
Its easier just to say I like techno and liquid funk and enjoy the confused look on peoples faces.
