Albino 3 very basic start

Post by t0mmy9 » Sun Apr 18, 2010 3:46 pm

Hi everyone

OK, first of all I am a huge noob at this, and am just starting now. I have got Albino 3 and added it to the plugins for Sony Acid Pro. I can open it in acid and get the settings screen, and change values but can't seem to play the result. How do I save the result and import it into acid and play it, or preview it?

I have read the manual and still can't seem to find it, are there any good tutorials out there too?

thanks for any help.

Can't you use it as a plug in as opposed to stand alone?

Draw a midi region on the albino track with the pencil tool. Right click then go to clip properties to get the Piano Roll

I drew a MIDI region on the track then right clicked and chose properties. The only options were start offset and pitch shift.

So I selected enable inline editing (G) to get the piano displayed. I then added a few notes and selected them and opened the albino 3 plugin. I changed some settings but they didnt seem to have an effect. Am I doing this right?

Dude, what the fuck are you doing...?

Okay, step by step:

1: Insert - Midi track
2: On the track at the left, there should be a little piano, and to the left of that a little 3 pin midi sign. click that, then click insert soft synth and select desired synth (in this case albino 3)
3: Draw a midi clip, then draw in the desired notes that you want to play.
4: Press play and you should hear some noise coming from albino. If not, something's not working.

I wonder why he's using Acid...

I'm sure it was featured in some sort of video about production...

With some kind of really banging producer...

smh

because we all use DAWs and VSTs that other big name producers also use, we are all trying to clone big name producers.

hahaha you're missing it. Homie saw a vid where a producer used a specific daw and a specific vst, and homie knows absolutely nothing about production, dl'ed some cracks and wants to make toons. Nothing wrong with that other than the stealing part. But homie should learn a bit more before jumping in like this. This shit is difficult to get started with, and a poor decision like using acid could cost you serious time and effort later on.

I might suggest flstudio, cubase, or live over acid if homie is on a pc.

actually i use acid for all of my main arranging and i find it extremely suited to me. saying that i started out making metal with cakewalk so i'm used to that sorta layout. big up the acid kru masseeeev. anyway you might find it a less frustrating starting point to mess around in a fruity loops demo to learn the ropes of sequencing...

I always thought ACID to be a good program that could have been so much more.

and it was very stable. extremely stable.

Sony fucked it up. I have doubts there will be ACID Pro 8 or anything.

the way I see it ACID could have easily been a program that rivals ableton as far as live performance possibilites. but i guess that wasn't its purpose. acid seems sort of like a half-finished idea.

but thats just me

Yea, for a beginner I would definitely suggest a different DAW than Sony Acid. Sony Acid is alright if you already understand the concept of sequencing and sampling. It would be easier to go with a program that uses step sequencers and has a more toned down hands on feel. Something like FL Studio is great to start with. It's can be a very complex program but it's very easy to learn just the main basics of the program. It's also got extensive use so there are a lot of videos on the internet that can show you things with that program. Once you got a decent understanding of what you're doing, then start looking for other programs or choose to stick with FL.
