First of all,i wouldn't combine dubstep with d'n'b but since you say there is no crowd showing up,then combine it with d'n'b cause i guess people there don't know much about these things.
It's better,at first,to find a smaller club.First impression is sometime the most important thing. It's better to have a small club/pub with 70 people capacity and to be full, then to have a big club for 400 or more people and to see only 60 people inside.
When i started organising parties here i only had 40/50 people coming in a small pub but now i have a regular monthly event with a lot of people showing up,trust me.
Things you need to work on
Promotion ::social networks like facebook, twitter and local forums about events.
Sending sms messages to people you know.
Find a good designer, don't be cheep on these things it will pay off, trust me.
Print some flayers and give it to people in clubs also record stores, some clothing stores, what ever you find basically...
Make a radio comercial and send it to radios, and ask them to play it.It would also be good if you could find a free slot on some local radio and make a radio show.
it's hard at the beginning but it all pays of eventually
good luck paul

do a mixed-cd, burn about 100copies or more and give it for free all round, give people an example of what you will play takin elements from what they love, this is the dubstep power

find the people that are already into it, and make sure they come to your night. people will see them having fun, they will be curious about the music, and thus the infection spreads.

its very hard for us here to let the people listen to dubsteb. although we have conducted an event here the people doesn't respond, like when your in the middle of your set its like "huh? whats kind of music is this dude playin", "we want some RnB stuff". F@%$ RnB! even the owner of the bar that we played cuts dead our set to change dubstep to RnB. we are requesting for help! thanks!

most important thing in my opinion is BE PATIENT! you can´t build up a scene with just one party! it actually may take a year or two to get people into it, thats how it works with underground sounds.
you could think about starting an internet-radio-show as well and post the link, print flyer for it etc. with the interwebz nowadays it´s no problem to get started in this direction. or upload mixes and send them to your friends etc.
good luck, don´t give up and keep us informed!

If people want r&b, why not do a 2-step garage event, mostly the type of 2-step that evolved into dubstep (Groove Chronicles, Zed Bias, Steve Gurley, etc) with some early dubstep (Horsepower Productions, etc) thrown in here and there in the middle or the end of the set for good measure. All that 2-step samples lots of r&b vocals, anyway, or is a remix of r&b tunes. If you can do it weekly or at least twice per month, you'll warm people up to the sound gradually by getting them into a style related to dubstep that they will probably associate with r&b first.
Throw in some grime too, to the ignorant, grime will probably sound exactly like hip-hop.
I mean, drum & bass is pretty old by modern EDM standards and people there are even having trouble with that, so I don't think you can just push something that is relatively new on the international scene such as dubstep in their face and expect them to love it if all they're used to is r&b (so to speak). Retake the steps that 2-step producers were taking back in 1997 to 2001 that eventually led to dubstep.

@Genevieve: actually we have some previous events that have rnb and hiphop as the main set. at first we include some easy-to-relate dubstep (sorry for the term) but people cannot really relate. for us we are only an average people that cant conduct weekly events coz the bar rents here are very high. also we cant afford to have a DIY event coz we dont have appropriate gadgets or so to have an event of our own. we also have to rent it. but atleast your comments are vey useful to us. keep it coming . thanks!

I don't think you got my point exactly. Like... get people into dubstep by playing related styles FIRST and then move on to dubstep. I.e, dark 2-step garage by the likes of Groove Chronicles. People not in the know will associate that music with r&b (seeing as they like that music), while they're actually hearing something closer to dubstep.
Same with grime. It's kinda close to dubstep, but people not in the know will associate it with hip-hop.
Tell you what:
go to youtube and search for:
groove chronicles stone cold
That type of music is called 2-step and specifically, this is the darker, bassier type of 2-step that evolved into dubstep. That song has vocals sampled from the song 'One In A Million' by Aaliyah, a popular r&b hit. A lot of 2-step was like that. To people that don't really know about 2-step or dubstep, that music will probably sound like r&b, so you could turn people onto dubstep by playing a related style first that they can more easily relate to due to the r&b influences.

I am totally in with this plan! My friend and I are major fans of electronic especially dubstep. I'm currently in Manila and totally disappointed with "regular" DJs. I need some hardcore dubstep!

Pmed PaoloD, got equipment and tunes. So let's roll!?

I would say if your doing a set, play to your crowds likes. If they are feeling the RNB dont bring out the latest Datsik banger. Draw for a comfortable middle ground and when they get comfortable, or hear a hook they know or like then perhaps draw for something a bit more away from their usual listening.
There are plenty of decent remix's of popular rnb tunes, or ones of the same ilk which you can slowly get their interest with, think of it this way:
If your a dubstep fan but no one else is, chances are playing what you really like first off will probably go down badly. Its all about the audience really and as long as they are going off, your doing a good job. That will get people interested and coming back for more

Totally, where are you guys setting up the place? I hope it's in Manila 'cause like I'm no where near Malate (looking at your profile info). But I don't mind going there

It's worth my time

Not sure what's happening myself, I'm about to buzz off to Germany tomorrow morning and haven't heard anything for a week or so. If anyone is into setting stuff up I'd be glad to provide help if I can from September on.

should also try to get some students from International School of Manila and other international schools to help promote the event to other students.... will lead to a younger crowd but the international kids will be more aware of dubstep so could help to get a better reaction and get your events off the ground
