Just wanted to say hello, I'm from NZ and have been downloading a few mixes from the forum over the past months and really like the sound. I especially like the Subhuman mixes, so deep, so nice.

I've been a DnB listener with deflating interest over the last few years as a disease called Pendulum has been decimating my enjoyment of the music. I had tried to produce DnB without much success, but I did learn alot about production technique that I hope will help me out with Dubstep. I like it because there is a fresh dynamic sound with alot of variety in the tunes and the beats, nice and spacious.

I have few of questions if anyone can help.
What is the generally accepted BPM of Dubstep? ~140ish
How many bars is a typical club oriented track?
Does the arrangement structure work mostly in 8, 16 and 32 bar sections?
Where can I buy a 320 of Lovesick by wolfman/JSL?
Are there any NZ heads on this forum that know of any good nights in Auckland?
Where can I get a 320 of Yes Yes Yes by Stoopid Kids, it was on a subhuman mix just after Anti-war dub?

Pendulum is the reason most people give up DNB. Them and the poison that they have spread to other just as shite emulators.

Welcome BTW

Hey bruv (or should I say bro  ), welcome to dubstep. I just moved to Auckland from the UK in November so good to hear from heads in NZ.

yes there was a dubstep night in Auckland, you just missed the first one a couple of weeks ago, I didn't go but I had to promote it on my show on base fm. If I find the info i'll post it here..

as far as I can see and as far as what I do, most stuff seems to be 140 (1/2 tempo 70) but it's up to you. I 've heard King Tubby tunes that are 64 bpm, so double that you get 128. try it and if you like it it's the right tempo.

btw, if you get a chance, check out local boy Dread on the dubstep tip...

thanks for the welcome.
I'm going to meditate on bass weight.

mind you.... I could just zong out on BZP party pills and bop around to "fasten your seatbelt" this weekend at the fu bar.

Nahhhhhhhh! I listened to dub proper for the first time a few years ago and that was a special feeling for me, money dub by king tubby is still a special song for me. I got that same feeling from inner city life by goldie. And now I get the same feeling of awe from Anti-war dub by digital mystikz.

haha word man, likewise. I find there are many MANY dnb heads gone dubstep, for the obvious reasons of course.
