Not any more ! The arts council are doing an interest free 10 month loan to help you buy music equipment. Dolphinmusic are a participating store in this scheme. If there's anything you need give me a shout and I'll run through everything for you.

Take it away is an Arts Council initiative designed to help more people get involved in learning and playing music. The scheme allows individuals to apply for a loan from £200 to £2,000 for the purchase of any kind of musical instrument, and pay it back in nine monthly instalments, completely interest free.
Take it away is open to everyone (over the age of 18), but primarily designed to help those who might otherwise be unable to afford an instrument appropriate for their needs.

Our priorities are:
•to encourage children and young people to develop their interests and skills in music making
•to inspire new players of all ages to begin learning an instrument
•to enable those on lower incomes to acquire an instrument appropriate to their needs (or the needs of their children)
Take it away is only available through registered outlets

All that happens is, you decide what you want/need, we total it up including shipping. Divide it by ten. we'll take this figure to the oarts council with a few details and they will confirm your eligibility. I have only ever had 2 people declined for this scheme so I'd advise giving it a whirl even if you think you may be declined.

The first installment is payable immediately as your deposit, we send you the paperwork to sign and you send it back to us. as soon as we recieve the paperwork the arts council give us your reference. As soon as we get this we can start shipping items out to you. Then it's 9 monthly installments of the same amount. Job done. you have your equipment.

Hey! I bought an EMU X board 61 from dolphin music about 18 months ago. It broke after two weeks and dolphin just didn't respond to any of my enquiries. :u: What gives? I got sick of heckling after a few weeks so had to just buy another sodding xboard from another company (to justify the non-refundable soundcard I'd bought). I forgot how irritatingly traumatic the whole thing was... Shame, cos I'm just looking for some new midi controllers etc.

Sorry to taint the thread, services regarding ordering+delivery were very efficient, but the lack o' service was appalling and wasted much of my time and dosh :x

hi lads,

yeah there are a few companies offering this scheme, if you come through me though i'll obviously do you a decent deal on it all, the scheme is a great way of getting the kit you need, and probably about 90% of the people who apply get accepted

A couple more offers here for you all anyway.

Thanks for the info on this...it's definitely got me interested. You mention there are criteria for eligibility, is there a link to the criteria for eligibility other than the 'questions' part of the take it away website?

Sorry but the last thing ANYONE on this planet needs is more credit/debt.

If you do not have the money in your back pocket you cannot afford it people.

Thanks for you input  I wasnt aware you were authority on other peoples financial situations. But your input is appreciated all the same.

If you can not afford it we wouldnt accept your aplication anyway, if you can afford it, like alot of people in this country can, its an option to pay in installments to make it a bit easier on the pocket.

As explained above this is the Arts Council that are funding this in a bid to get young people involved in music. A pretty good idea considering the cost of equipment these days.
