Top 10 Dubstep Clubs

Post by rachelknowledge » Thu May 13, 2010 2:30 pm

We're launching a new events section on www.kmag.co.uk soon and we're doing a month long season of special club related features. We want to do a top ten dubstep clubs list so FWD and DMZ obviously spring to mind for London but what about the rest of the UK and worldwide, what do you think should be in there?

That sounds sick! (not the puking part) Is there regular dubstep events held there?

Saw the Hyperdub lot there a couple years ago, Ikonika, Zomby, Darkstar, the Bug, Kode 9 etc. Thought I'd stumbled into a crackden in the downstairs bit!! apparentley its closed down now though?

yes! the downstairs is reeal sketchy! walking down by those docks! makes coming up to the 11th floor and being released into lush poshness that much more epic... great view of the city too

shame if its closed... excellent venue

Seconded, you really have to feature this place simply because it holds the two biggest dub/dubstep nights in the north

as for manchester i'd say Bass Camp, been running for what, 5 years? say no more, biggest lineups in manc, just not regular enough

In Brighton i would say Digital and also Volks club, both have good soundsytems and are nice and loud and are dark and simple yet brilliant.

For Brighton...

Audio is a nice dark space for skankin...Soundsystem isn't the best though...
Digital has a good soundsystem...but attracts dick heads...
Concorde is good - but only when Superdubpressure stick their 40,000 watt system in there..
Volks..is also quite good.
I don't turn on Korn to get it on, I be playin Digi Mystikz 'til the dawn

Agreed, I've had the best nights at Concorde 2 - it's just expensive. Digital do have good DJs at the weekends but most of the weeks it's shitty Indie stuff that young teenagers get off to - so a lot of them end up there on the weekend too. Volks probably best for underground vibe, but can be deserted in there. Audio is pretty cool, but yes soundsystem lacks, but the outdoors terrace place is nice.

Method in Preston, Lancashire has a monthly (or more) night called Drop which is fucking awesome. for £4 (an absolute pittance) i've seen people like Goth Trad, Reso, Funtcase, Datsik, The Others, Borgore, Caspa, Bar 9, and both Rusko and i think Breakage are coming up. it's awesome when people do exciting things in otherwise shit cities for the love of it, not to make big cash.

Stink Like Sock @ The Junction, Cambridge.
SuperDubPressure @ Concorde, Brighton.
Trigga @ 013, Tilburg.

Couple of our personal favs...

Some Night @ The Den, London (Wicked for a midweek brockout).
Sub Squad @ The Royal, Southend (Banging system & mental crowd... plus its the only dubstep night we got here in Essex lol).

Volks in Brighton is sick aswell, and RubbaDub @ The Blueprint in Notts was something special, unfortunatly the venue is closed now.
