I went to this night with my mate nola and we had a wicked time. Two quid for our own personal soundsystem (which sounded really sweet) with mrk1 behind the decks = bargain. Just wondering if anyone can tell me why the attendance topped out at 15 people... really puzzled about that...

We ran into lots of problems leading up to this night which i don't really want to get into on here but still was very surprised by the turn out (or lack of). It did sound good though

Four reasons that I can think of:
1) It was on a Tuesday which together with Monday and Sunday is the worst day of the week for getting people to events.
2) It was at the University which means non-students are not going to be attracted/welcomed at it.
3) Aren't students doing exams and starting to go home?
4) One-off events or the first time you put on an event will never attract many people because no one knows what to expect and most people are unwilling to find out for themselves. For fuck sake, it took us about 4 years to start getting "healthy" crowds at SubDub and that was after doing other events for about 4 years prior to SubDub, with hardly anyone turning up.

Promoting music is never easy.

^ yeah and that! Actually the students doing exams / going home was way more of an issue than i thought it was going to be. Most of the students i talked to even had exams the next morning etc
