Please give feedback on my very first dubstep track

Post by Zodiak » Fri May 14, 2010 11:10 pm

Hello! I'm very very new to both dubstep and production in general. I've just finished my first track, took me about a couple of hours simply because I just wanted something done. Obviously proper, quality tracks need more than a couple of hours. But all I want right now is to find out about whatever mistakes I'm making, whether it's actually dubstep or some other genre, productions tips (EQ, compression etc.), arrangement tips, basically - any kind of feedback is more than appreciated. I'm really new to all of this, so I really need your help! Please be nice, because I'm not showing off, I'm not trying to become the next Skream, I'm just learning. I don't really have anyone else whom I could ask. Need as much feedback and criticism as possible. I use FL Studio, if that helps... Thank you!

Or my sig!

HEY! This is very nice! I like the analog feel of some of your sounds! The cymbals appear a bit messy at times and i think they need a little bit of edge to them. BUT overall this is a great track! I like the way the bass is mixed to the track! By The Way this is really strange since i just logged in to post my track that is still under production, and last night i came up with the same name LIGHTHOUSE! :D Now i gotta find a new name for it!

Here's my ''lighthouse'' after one session into production. http://soundcloud.com/mandis/dropa

Thank you for your kind words, Mandis! Really appreciate it!

Here's an updated link:

And it's a free 320 download, of course, not that anyone'd want it...

Just give it a shot and tell me what you think =) Cheers!!!

I like the beat and ambiance but that acidic synth sounds a bit outta place

Thank you for the feedback! What do you suggest instead of the synth pattern? Something that's more 'dubsteppy' perhaps? I'm very new so all ideas are more than welcome!
