just wondering, what are some ways to approach those sounds? dunno really how to describe them...
about 52 seconds in, the big almost screaming synth;
about 23 seconds in, similar sound.
not sure if this belonged in that "datsik and excision sound" thread, but heres a go anyways.. been interested in designing some similar sounds.
any help appreciated. cheers

Layer oscillators in different octaves and distort, filter as a bus, ect...
Essentially frequency splitting but rather make a high pitched ass wobble on top...
def. the walking wobbles thread post, I dont wanna type that twice though, linked it in datscision thread for a reason...
SPLIT FREQUENCIES and LAYER OCTAVES!!!

Sounds like noise with a band bass filter running from low to high?

Nah scream distortion on some kind of wave up octave or two higher then bass in example one I didnt listen to second example cause first is just frequencey splits and good solid layers / modulation...
You got two options O.P.
Massive, Albino, Ect... In this case use octave spreads on each osc, route to seperate lfos n shit for each, then send to mixer, and split frequencies with eq, distort each octave seperate... In massive you can actually do that in mod matrix I think? Massive little more like modular shit innit?
Or, 3xOsc, simple waveforms... Start with a lowpassed square or saw wave in a high octave, another one in a midrange octave, send each too mixer, route each signal out create layer distortions bus each one back to thier own final so mids or all in one place high bass shits all in the other, then effect those two channels with fitlers and whatnot, go back to synth play with lfo... ect.... ect...
Yeah, you're right, I only listened to the first video. second one is more pronounced

im using massive, I automated the scream distortion so that it rises up, then assigned an envelope with the ATK turned up to one of the LFO's and got a very similar sound. thanks guys, big help!

The first track is one of the worse things I have heard for a while. Bass? WHAT BASS? that noise is bloody horrible!!!
The second track, WTF is that about. Man leave that crazy shit to Breakcore.
If anyone knows how to make (I do) these horrible sounds. DO NOT TELL ANYMORE PEOPLE HOW TO DO IT PLEASE!
/facepalm

Big up to Sham and Deadly, just read your post.
When I first posted a track on here (damn it was so shit) people said to me, thats not Dubstep its Techno,
I took it on the chin, they were right it was not Dubstep at all. Just because I had a snare on the 3rd the rest of the track was Techno. Techno hits and Techno noises.
Those two tracks above are more like Techno/idm/breakcore to me with some of the most irritating noises possible.

ok, ok, we've had our fun, but i was serious about the backwards cymbal. we don't need this to devolve into yet another apples & oranges discussion. if you've got some advice for drops, plz post it here.

would you prefer mellow music in a busy rave? there's a reason there's 2 sides to dubstep. I do have sympathy for the original fans (most likley you serox) i'd be pissed off if i was listening to the original dubstep sound back in, whenever, was it mid 2000s? I can fully understand why people hate this new kids sound, so I'm not a hater of either.

omg that first song is so abnoxious and frankly both those songs suck imho, but yea I could make that sound in like 4 seconds with some distortion and oscillators on multiple octaves, especially in albino 3 which I am finding is better for that kind of thing as apposed to massive.
also on a side note, even tho Im a fan of the hardcore dubstep scene, there are so many fucking shitty songs made these days by ppl that dont even know or care about much about music beyond smash bang woooop SHWANGNAELDKASDLSADASLDASLDLASD for 4 minutes. plz for the love of god a little less distortion plz!

Oh you assume I like mellow music because I dont like this?! I like big basslines and an interesting melody of some sort. I want to be able to tap my foot to the beat and get lost in some deep shit, if its there. I want to see rhythm and some kind of vibe/feel with some kind of human touch.
Those tracks above sound a bit like someone trying to start a broken down Toyota. They have a bunch of sounds that all sound like they are from other tracks. Like a bunch of loops from different genres all stuck together. Its a mess and offensive in every way possible lol.

okay we get that you don't like these tracks, i don't either
but there are people who do, so why don't we help them instead of shouting out our big, angry, and very subjective ideas of music? come on man

I could not honestly offer assistance to anyone who would like to make something like this:( I love music I really do but I am so disappointed in the direction it has gone:( I see it as helping to destroy something I really like.

then just don't say anything!
Ignore what you don't like and listen to the stuff you do. There's always going to be music you hate and directions you don't understand, but the point is you getting upset isn't going to stop the thousands of people who really love it. They must be doing something right?
uhh sorry sharm, i mean filtersweep white noise up up and up and blam you've got yourself a drop

But I want to help them! maybe if enough ppl moan about that style of music the less people will try to emulate it?
