Hard, subby kicks

Like the ones coming in at 0:30

I hear these frequently in the harder beat driven EDM, how can I get them? They'd sound good for what I need.

Get some house/gabber/electro kicks with lots of subby meat but still have that midrange punch.

Either that or layer together one kick with lotsa sub and one with lotsa punch. Then EQ accordingly, compress and a bit of distortion for good measure. A bit of side chaining to the kick should also help it cut through.

take two 808s, distort one for the hard sound and keep the other clean for the sub. many other combinations of layering, just distorting a heavy kick, or even just sampling.

Haha, I'm lazy. I was hoping there was gonna be a sample pack with kicks like the one in the tune I linked instead of me having to make those kicks myself.

Oh wells! On to the softsynth then, I suppose.

There is a sample pack called Vengeance. It has a folder called 'hard kicks' and has about 50 kicks that sound like this. Add some dist, job done.

I hope I never heard that track out :D

Ah, your lazy? ok. If you want I can make it for you. Let me know if there is anything else I can make for you while I am at it.

no need for 808s. The original Techno kick was a 909bd imo. For something of a faster tempo you want short, punchy/snappy kicks. 808s are too big to be of any use.

does nobody else think that the song posted by the OP sounds like a man getting raped?

Yes.

Anyway the kick doesn't sound that subby on my speakers. Kinda sounds like an 909 with some reverb and some distortion. Plenty of packs around for the 909, at least add your own reverb and distrotion?

That kick isn't a gabber kick. For gabber kicks I just compress and distort the fuck out of a 909.

The kick in the link's definitely in a lot of hardcore (and some harder house), the kick style was also popular in some '90s hardcore acid techno. If it's just a matter of reverbing a 909 kick the I'll try it. To me it sounded more like something based on an acoustic kick drum sample.
