I'm interested in buying equipment, altho, I'm not going to spend a fortune but I sure do want stereo quality!

So if anyone knows a bit of this art, please help me with my quest of finding the perfect price/quality stereo field recording setup.


Oh and if anyone has some home recorded stuff or maybe tracks based on you own recorded shit, please spray them here. I'm very interested!

I don't really know much about it.. But I want to get a mic soon.
From seeing my dads studio flat I say get a good mixer, flat response speakers, an alright microphone and foam wallpaper.

..Oh and a bunch of wacky instruments

the m-audio microtrack is decent, bought it new for around 200. you can get some really interesting sounds from it. sit in a subway station and hit record.

I've used these before.

They're actually surprisingly good.

field recording is a hobby of mine. i use a laptop, soundcard and mics. its less portable than a pocket recorder but the quality is way better and i can use the gear for other things as well.

here's a blog post about a trip in the jungle where i took some recordings. you can listen to the sounds of Bokeo national park in Laos.

depending on what gear you have already, the laptop is a nice portable set up that delivers pro results. also good for playing live on stage!

binaural mics are the one, got mine for about £35 from here years back but i'm not sure they sell the same model any more, can't find them. try taping a bus/train journey then listening back later in the dark, feels like you're actually moving, really weird. i'd advise you to buy a pair calibrated for high sensitivity unless yer going to be recording very loud stuff

oh man that's sounds really good! I'm getting a macbook pro in a few months and i allready have an echo audiofire 4 sound interface with pretty good sounding preamps and phantom inside!
