Looking for realistic orchestral strings/violin VST's ...
i'm looking for some good & realistic orchestral strings/violin VST's for Mac.
i'm pretty fond of the ones in apple's Garageband, but I can't seem to use them in ableton live, so i need some external ones.
thanks in advance!

I have Kontakt which has a VSL orchestral library and the strings in that are lush. There are much pricier examples too! What is your budget?

East West / Quantum Leap Symphonic Orchestra is the best I have heard to date, but vvvvvvveeeeeeeeeeeeerrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrryyyyyyyyyyyyyy expensive...

Makes your strings sound like a hollywood movie score!!

Sample them, a) it's cheaper
b) it sounds better
I had this advice a long time ago.

If you want realistic strings then your only option is multisampled orchestral libraries (such as http://www.sweetwater.com/store/manufac ... ic_Library) which will cost you lots.
Either that or dig out your parents classical CDs and start sampling.

miroslav philharmonik isn't bad for €169.99 for the full edition and €99.99 for the "classik" edition.
you can demo it here http://www.ikmultimedia.com/philharmonik/download/
OR
LA scoring strings is on special offer at the moment for $999

he did mention FOR MAC.RandoRando wrote:Edirol ochestra
philharmonik id say. but it tends to sound ambiant/distant/epic. ( i like it)
if uve got a bit of spare time... watch Sabre's prod. masterclass... he talks about strings a lot and about how to make em sound good even if ur using an average library..
seems to work wonders...
