some of it's alright, but there's always just some slinky tune that never seems to sound in time

agreed. 2step mixed with other tunes isn't too bad but if you've got two 2step tunes and they aren't quite in time the drums sound absolutely awful
jungle's pretty difficult too i find

dubstep and 2step. it depends... everything is easy once you can beatmatch perfectly, people who can't mix in breakdowns arnt beatmatching right tho..

Why not?
This whole DJs sticking to certain BPMs or even certain genres for an entire set is getting a bit lazy... eclectic sets FTW.

stating the obvious
140 to 180 is a bit of a large gap though
does dubstep mix with dnb? no
you just stop mixing dubstep, then start mixing dnb
so technically your not actually mixing the two together

2 step has a lot of tunes swung both ways and obviously jungle isnt generally made on a grid due to when it was made....you dont really beatmix jungle though surely?
more drop in beats

Ah, fair enough. I was taking "mixing" to mean general DJing... as in quick cuts are allowed if you're not doing them all the time.
I grew up on HipHop DJs who weren't that afraid to do a fast cut and switch tempos in a heartbeat.... but yeah, if you mean literally "mixing" as in you have to fade between the tunes, fair enough. I find sets that only do that a bit duller though.

Try mixing Elliott Smith with GZA. That's hard.
