Excision and Datsik fight off MC on Stage

This past Saturday I was at Starscape in Baltimore, MD. I didn't leave the beach stage all day and night which featured artists such as Noah D, Datsik, Borgore, Excision, and Rusko. The show was fucking amazing and I was lucky enough to be front and center on the barricade. When Excision came on Datsik introduced him and was doing all of the shouting out to the crowd. Then some drunk MC kept coming up and snatching up the mic and spitting the same lines over and over again. Datsik tried to get the mic back every time. Excision ended up unplugging the mic every time Datsik didn't have it in his hand. But the MC just didn't get the point. Eventually the MC just got sick and tired of the back and forth of unplugging the mic and confronted Excision at the decks. Finally someone came over and kept him occupied and held him back from going over to the mic. Half of the people up front started cheering.
What do artists need to do to make it clear to MCs that its their show and their music, not theirs? Props to Datsik and Excision for handling it well. Even though it was funny as hell to watch you unplug the mic over and over again from the audience's perspective, if I were you I would have knocked that dude out the second time he didn't listen to me.

regardless of the quality of excision and datsik's recent output,
MC's should know their place. But I've seen the greatest of the scene do stupid things when they are drunk.
I watched Kromestar "mc-ing" when he was drunk out of his mind. I admit : it was a laugh, but it sort of ruined a few minutes.
His own set was killer enough to forgive him though.
At any rate : an mc is bliss when he's a pro so to speek. Stick with hosts for all of the other occasions, suits dubstep much better imho
(the honourable sgt. pokes for example)

i remember Skibadee absolutely ruining Mampi Swifts set at Innovation 4years ago... was hilarious/annoying all at once

Yeah, I'm surprised at the level of bullshit dj's put up with from stupid ass mc's. You can give them a shot to see if their any good, but once it's clear that they totally suck, you gotta tell them to get off the stage and stop fucking up the show. Of course, really all the artist should have to do is call someone over and tell them to take his stupid ass of the stage. It's like, one love, except if you're a stupid, drunk asshole that can't flow for shit.

I agree. Also Datsik & Excision's tunes have enough going on that an MC doesn't sound good over most of their tunes anyway. Excisions Shambhala 2009 set had no MC and was the dopest set Ive ever witnessed. MCs are fine on more minimal sets but not over noisey sets IMO

I think the point is not about Excision, Datsik or MCs. It's about the promoter being alert for this kind of drunken and pathetic attitude and doing something about it without distracting the crowd from the music

MC's sound good over any set, its all down to the MC.
Some of them need to learn when to close the mouth and let the music go though.........

saw this once with The Others, crappy mc couldn't shut up, totally ruining the vibe. You could see they didn't like it either but they still let him do. The whole set I felt like punching that MC in the teeth. Think The Others were thinking the exact same.

haha, oh man not again! it must have been MC Wiggadee-Wack or as he likes to be called MC Diggadee. He follows around this guy named Dave Gee, whos a pretty shit dj to begin with, which i guess is why he feels he needs an mc to back him up. I saw them play in New York a couple times and it was straight awful. Basically borgore tunes and a lot of arm movements, didnt play one song that i hadnt heard before. Then you got this drunk dude spitting jibberish on top of it, worst part is he puts on a fake british accent. Its funny cuz ive actually seen them get ripped on this forum before. When are people gonna wise up and stop booking these two cornballs alongside great acts like the Rottun crew?

Guess you could say that the MC got his swagga back!
The promoter decides who gets access to the stage. Its up to them to say whats going down.
DJ will say if they want an MC with them or not before hand or at least say it during the set if the MC is pissing them off.
Normally in this case some of Excisions or Datsiks boys should have had a word with the promoter and then got the chump off the stage. Regardless if you like their music they deserve a fair shake of the stick.
