can we have one please?
sick of going into the dubstep one, then realising there's not going to be any house ones there (or barely any)
and i have no clue about any decent house nights, except the odd big ones posted here sometimes

i can ask dubway for you but i doubt it'll happen as there probably aren't enough nights to justify it

we could have some kind of sticky system where promoters/other interested parties message me to sticky up and coming nights? mentioned it a while ago but didn't seem like there was much interest

cool man, sure though if it started small, people would see it then add more and more
there's definitely enough house nights across the uk to fill a whole sub forum

if someone started a whole new board.. would people move?
Call it something un genre specific to discuss all new garage/house/funky mutations coming from the fallout of the dubstep scene

i'll put it to dubway and see what he says. there's not a lot of point discussing the various options unless we know if they're even needed

i dunno tbh. it depends on the user i'd have thought but dubstepforum is pretty much the only (and first) forum i've ever used and as shit as it can be at times it's also a great resource for most of my music needs all in one place. other forums like breakstep forum and the future garage forum have popped up and i don't find myself over at those very often largely due to habit and lack of time for checking lots of different forums

i mean just in this area, there doesn't need to be an extra bit on the main home page
maybe a sticky thread, that is actually a link to another subforum?
like how you did the dubstep forum awards?

zactly.

The idea that House is a sub genre (exactly what it looks likes like we're trying to say) is patronising enough don't you think!

i don't think it looks like that unless hip hop and other music are sub genres of dubstep as wel. having said that, i think it did make a bit more sense when house and hip both fell under the other music category but it's only an aesthetic issue really

To be honest, I think were probably winding up more potential guys to bring over from the sinking ship of the dubstep scene than winning them over by having this forum sitting here, as it looks very "us and them". As someone getting into Dubstep I'd be dead confused that there is hip hop and house sub forums, as if to say Dubstep is huge and these are spin offs, when they are both 10 times the size dubstep will ever be

yeah agreed. there don't seem to be many new people coming over to this section and this forum is mainly populated by the "old guard" for want of a better term. there's always going to be confusion with genres (dubstep being a sub-genre of drum and bass for instance), but hopefully the more interested fans will do a bit of digging and base their opinions on a bit of knowledge rather than whatever's considered "cool" at the moment, and with any luck the rest will fuck off soon. what do you mean by winding up people? i can't see how this forum being here is going to be losing any potentional fans more than if it didn't exist at all. a totally separate forum is less likely to bring people into the scene than one on on this forum as it doesn't have to involve someone actively searching it out

and i wouldn't say the dubstep scene is sinking; changing definitely (and mostly not for the better), but there's still some fantastic music being made even if it's not the sort of stuff that a lot of the filth fans like
