Balkansky is the dubstep alias for Ivan Shopov - better known as Cooh - a diversely talented musician and artist from Bulgaria.

Starting out as a bassist in a hardcore metal band, Ivan moved to computer-based music production and over 10 years of hard work producing, playing and promoting Drum and Bass in his home country he built a solid platform to launch himself on to the world wide scene.
Producing DnB as Cooh with over 40 vinyl releases and support from big name DJs around the globe Ivan’s dubstep work should be expected to be something special… and it is.
Balkansky’s debut album, Kuker, has Ivan paired with lauded Bulgarian jazz musican Theodosii Spassov and departs from the techno-DnB sound of Cooh in to a unique blend of their country’s traditional folk sounds intertwined with modern electronic rhythms.
As diverse as his production, the Balkansky DJ set is a journey through music – with intention to make you move. From deep and dark basslines through thumping techy beats all the way to dancefloor smashing mashups, Balkansky’s tune selection and unstoppable energy is going to have the room heaving.
This, of course, is a perfect match for the Low Society party vibe.
On the third Saturday of every month Low Society takes over the Gladstone Hotel, Chippendale, with two rooms of Dubstep, Jungle and DnB.
Featuring the mighty DSS system inside - best known as being the centrepiece of Channel parties – tuned to perfection with Smaartlive, this wall of sound will give you the heavy dubstep experience you crave.
Outside the ForeignDub’ system in the smoker-friendly courtyard provides the Jungle, DnB and dub sounds for which they are renowned in Sydney and beyond.
Also supporting on the night is a quality lineup of interstate and local DJs.
Low society will host inside Boot, Victim, Chris Blynd and crew DJs James Daak b2b Distemper
Boot’s production - under his own name and partnered with Sook as The Abyss - has received great interest from labels and DJs alike, dancefloor dubstep that goes deep with a futuristic techy funk sound. Boot’s sets prove the attention is deserved, featuring his own tracks showcased with a bunch of exclusive dubs from international artists thrown in for good measure.
Victim may be known as the man behind the Void name but this would neglect the 15 years of DJing and promoting in a diverse range of genres that brought him where he is now. A refined taste and his deep appreciation for music is apparent when Victim plays out, covering many styles and giving the crowd something for the mind as well as ears.
Low Society crew James Daak and Distemper work as hard behind the decks as they do behind the scenes to make the night memorable on all fronts, playing their trademark dubstep delivered with frenzied party fun.

Foreigndub bring the vibe outside with 2 wicked interstate DJs, ATP from Melbourne and Perth’s DJ Missile.
ATP takes his name from a molecule found in the human body, Adenosine Tri-Phosphate - the transporter of energy through cells. However, it’s the science of music that he would have you remember him for, especially his own brand of deeper jazz influenced drum’n’bass tunes which have been released on Liquid Brilliants and the mighty “Good Looking Records” amongst others.
With DJ Missile’s positive vibe and love of fresh dub & heavyweight party sounds, she continuously pushes the boundaries of bass driven ragga influenced music. As diverse as she is creative, her performance gives a vibrant energy that lifts the people and brings the fun time party vibes, guaranteed to make you want to join her on the dancefloor.
Joining Missile tour will be Mc Faz [UK]. Faz hails from the London garage & indy scene’s with a unique talent of lyricism and vocalisation combined with awesome speed chatta stylee.

Holding down the local experience and presence is Sydney's Godfather of Dnb Ritual. Foreigndub, Sam the Chemist and Sariss & Finess keep the party flowing through the night.
Whilst the event kicks off at 9pm proper, get down early as Foreigndub will be warming up the place during the evening. Food is available from the pub bistro all day and you’ll secure entry to what will be a massive event guaranteed to sell out.
All this takes place on the 19th of June 2010, 9pm – 3 am. $10 entry on the door
The venue is the Gladstone Hotel, 115 Regent St, Chippendale. Corner of Meagher St, opposite GoGas service station.
