Velvet Room Dayz

Post by amen-ra » Wed Feb 15, 2006 7:57 pm

Who was there at the first Forward dances? What was the first tune you heard when u walked in there for the first time? Mine was Musical Mob- Kode 9 was playin it- mustve been 3 of us in the club!!

I also have fond memories of Footsie touchin mic alongside SLT- it became a standard ting in the early days

And as far as i know the only fight that's ever brocked off inside Forward happened at the Velvet!!!

Memories, memories, memories.

Also, who was at the First EVER Forward? I think El-B was down there

Can't remember the first tune in there, just fond memories of SLT, Oris, Benny Ill, Zed B and others tearing it up

Benga's remix of Wookie - Storm
Benga - Mammoth

Other memories -

Juiceman on mic

Zed Bias on the decks.

Early plastic people days - and perhaps my best memory of FWD ever - ARTWORK - RED

What a classic.

I have the flyer for the first ever FWD in my room still.

i really wish i was there. i should have been there but my world and this sound weren't on crossing paths back then. nice for you old boys to reminisce though.

did anyone back then think things could get to the level they are now - how did people view the sound in the scheme of things back then??

I saw it as a developing sound still but some of the craziest produckys were about back then- Horsepower, Ghost, Artwork, Benga and Skream in their early Big Apple days and Slaughter Mob used 2 absolutely bury the dance everytime.

Really I was so caught-up in the dubstep that i couldnt see it in the bigger scheme- it was pretty much all i knew at one stage. Now its bigger i can kinda connect tings up a bit. But there was nothin passed Forward back then, and i was cool with that man i gotta say. It was jus a bubblin little scene.

But now it's a monster!! And I'm even cooler with that!!

Yes mate, I used to mission it up to Speed with my mates from S'ton, still remember when it finished and Tempo started up at Mars.

"Welcome to the sound- check the godfathers"

Was it my imagination or at the last DMZ were the Mystikz playin tune with distinct Ghost style skank?. There was one riddim in particular that had them ghost style drumz. At times during their set i was jus thinkin- this is the history of Dubstep so far!!

Dunno- I could've been on a hype one. It was one of them nights

are we talking about two different tunes:

Artwork: The Soul
and
'Mind, Body, Soul' by Steve Gurley (under an alias...)

The Artwork tune was the FWD anthem

Chef's intro tune was very Ghost-y, though he said it was him and Skream that made it.
