have recently set up an internet radio station http://www.dubconcepts.tk

having a few problems when the change overs take place, as at the moment we're broadcasting from multiple locations. anyone know how to stamp this out? its taking about 10 minutes to get the change overs done, waiting for servers to reset and that.

You have a broadcast server that people connect to to stream, the next and previous DJ's talk using AIM, one presses stop, the other connects, sorted.

Shoutcast at least anyway... that's how SubFM do it.

Most people use a shoutcast plugin for winamp they use to connect to the streaming server.

You should really rtfm. No idea why you're rebooting servers.

I haven't done shoutcast streaming since I was involved with Rinse years ago.

No offence, ain't got time to hold your hand, bit busy with a beowulf cluster at the moment.

However some keywords:

Shoutcast
Winamp
Shoutcast Plugin

"How to stream to shoutcast using winamp"

When you switch DJ's, one disconnects, the other connects, it's THAT simple.

thats not the problem, we know how to broadcast, the problem is that our servers wont accept a connection from a new IP unless we reboot the server.

I love how your like RTFM when you havnt even read the OP properly. :u:

The problem were having isnt that we dont know how to broadcast. If we had that problem we wouldnt be promoing our site yet would we????

The problem is that our servers wont accept an new (ie the next DJ) incoming IP unless there rebooted. This is what is giving us long DJ changeovers. Not only that but the radio needs to be refreshed in order to hear the next DJ... this is obviously turning listeners away when that changeover happens.

And if you havnt got time to 'hold our hands' (ie give friendly advice to othe rmusic heads) then dont bother posting anything at all, if your time is that precious.....

/rant.

Now to anyone willing to help,

I believe the best way to solve the problem is a relay server, so that one pc is always connected and DJs can use the relay server to latch onto..... however, i havnt found solid evidence that this will solve it. Can anyone confirm this to be the way to go or not?
