free RELIABLE sampler?

every free sampler ive used has had some sort of awful problem. horrible clicks before the sample triggers, making my DAW crash, there was one that even infected my vst folder. so, anyone know a free reliable sampler that simply does what it needs to? it doesnt need to have any amazing filters or anything, just need something i can load a sample to the keyboard with...

another one for shortcircuit. if you just need a quick tool to load up a sample into, nothing really beats sfz imo. drag, drop, enjoy.

if your getting clicks have you been chopping your samples correctly ?

Very very good point!
Open the sample in a sample editor and zoom into the very beginning of the sample.
Check to see that the sample starts on a zero crossing, ie that the lines of the sample start in the middle of the screen and not off centre. There are several ways of fixing this, and some audio editors have a dedicated tool or command for doing so. Another way is to perform a volume fade over the area. While the cause of the click remains, with the volume fading in over the click it won't be audible.
Repeat the proces for the end of the sample too.
