Everything and anything that isn't dubstep funnily enough. That includes books, music, films etc.

It's weird but music CAN be inspired by film and books, I don't know how though.arktrix wrote:Everything and anything that isn't dubstep funnily enough. That includes books, music, films etc.
I'd say my main influences are old skool trance and garage for my dusbtep production. A broader spectrum from my other tracks.
Re: Non Dubstep Inspirations
i like a lot of deadmau5' stuff, it's not the production that inspires me, even though some tracks are very well produced, it's just that i love some of the tracks he makes, and i guess hearing good music makes me want to sit down and play about with FL studio for a bit..
Re: Non Dubstep Inspirations
Similar thing actually happened to me and my band up in Palmdale. Didn't end up with a high five, instead a bolt for the door after everything was said and done.ENZA wrote:

At the moment, this album isn't leaving my CD players..
Sit back, put your headphones on and close ya eyes and chillax, inspiration will just come!
and.
Pure, sonic, amazingness. One would argue its as how perfect music can be, I for agree with my own statement

Without a doubt (for me) most influencial: Trent Reznor (NIN) - Trent hast to be one of the most prolific producers/songwriters of our time. He's fuckin' deeper than anyone I've heard, check out the experimental, non-lyrical album "Ghosts". He is the don of electronic. The other favorite has to be Saul Williams, check him out - seriously..this guy is the business. He's what I'd describe as an alternative, industrial hip hop vocalist, street poet and all round deep moptherfucker. Latest album "****** Tardust", produced by Trent Reznor (yes I'm a fan
) Check out "list of demands" on you tube and tell me if I'm wrong.
Bet your ass, both of these guys are my hero's.

Re: Non Dubstep Inspirations
Believe it or not mid-70's softrock at the moment. Influences don't always have to be obvious. I find it amazing that this kind of music you can groove on no matter, headphones, clock radio, speaker phone, large pa, the shit works regardless. You may be different but I am not satisfied with dubstep unless it's a huge rig. Making music that will work in as many scenario's as possible can help break you out of the "for the heads" only type music.

Why would you want to break out of "for the heads" only type of music?abZ wrote:Making music that will work in as many scenario's as possible can help break you out of the "for the heads" only type music.
