when you say ghetto, what do you mean? just curious...
when we say ghetto by ny standards, it means that the cops arrive 3 cars and a big box van...deep. harlem for example, is now nothing like it used to be, from what you've seen in movies. my cousin-in-law is a cop here. there's parts of brooklyn that they call the WWW...wild wild west...because anything can happen or go down during a routine call.

If you do get lost in Brixton, try to give Coldharbour Lane the widest berth possible...

harlem might be harsher, but mate brixton is ghetto, dont get it twisted

and i live round the corner so i aint comparing it to some pretty english village!
the place is buzzing with culture and sound so we've always loved it, but dont stop to talk to any shifty bastards put it that way.
ive never had any *really* bad experiences down there but boy they tried

ive seen police vans get bottles rocks thrown at them from big crowds down them ways, they really dont give a toss

but if you're walking from the station to dmz, you wont get any trouble

Not cussing.
I have found Coldharbour Lane quite intimidating at times. Thats all.

nah no offence. it is that. tho i'd rather be mincing round brixton than shadwell, still. plus most of the 'skunk draw' geezers round the tube are pure jokers, really. still, know where your wallet is, init - no diff from most other endz...

Coldharbour lane is one of the worst prominant streets in London, but you can still walk down it fine if you keep yourself to yourself.
frankly the use of the word 'ghetto' in the UK pales in comparison to the level of US depravation/ghettoisation. For a start we have the welfare state and no constitutional right to guns.
brixton is a rough area compared to the rest of the UK, but not compared to the rest of the world's true ghettos.

Absolutely! Maybe we should put up another post on the forum where people (once again) could post their pics so we recognize eachother at this global event?
