what is so good about the 'vengeance' sample packs?

Post by dav.id » Thu Aug 05, 2010 5:40 pm

I do have all the packs, but why are they so populair?

I use plenty of other sample packs and sometimes even record my own samples

I know they are high quality but they are not better then other well known brands :?

what's up with that?

cuz I get the feeling that everybody only use these packs in particulair

you spent over $1,500 on samples?

I have one pack and I like it.. i feel it does need to be mixed in with some different samples tho!
Haven't tried any other packs.. all my other samples are free stuff i gather from online.

no I didn't pay for those, I do bought a couple of packs of wave alchemy

and I don't think they scream brostep, it can scream anything :?

I do like there claps and kicks, but these packs are so overused these days....but that doesn't really matter though....cause it is the same thing with the amen breaks....it's how you use them

The kicks are about 90% 50HZ tone

the snares are about 99% white noise

Eh nothing really. Not sure about the newest ones, but the original discs had a lot of sounds sourced from internet & mp3 and pushed through Vintage Warmer. View the meta data of some in a wave editor and you'll see where they took the samples from and other info. Lots of them were straight off of the VIP Zone sample site and effected/renamed. They got smarter later and removed the meta data after they got popular but after that they will always be suspicious imo.

i rate the vengeance packs. got a couple, dont use them as much as some of my other sample sources but i definitely look through the vengeance drum packs first if i'm looking for something in particular

^^^^^ you must have different samples to mine but thats a pretty silly statement.

I don't use them......I've never even heard of them to be honest. Most of my drum samples are either stuff I cut myself, made with some VST or grabbed out of random sample packs people have uploaded all over the internet. I guess it's possible some of these packs contained some of these samples that I don't know about, but my guess is, they get as much use as any other site that offers sample packs that people download for free via torrents.

I've always been suspicious of sites that sell sample packs and cds. There's only so many things you can do to a kick or a hat and chances are 90% of these sites offer the same exact sounding samples with different names. No thanks. I'll save my money for Effect VSTs, VSTi's and other things I can physically do something with myself.

Agreed, Goldbaby is the best I've found... :z:

Thanks to Dom Angus (a.k.a. Dom & Roland) for originally recommending on DOA years ago!!

the vengeance ones are nice as they are super-excited, super-expanded sounds for the most part-- they stick out in mixes really well. if I need a kick with a nasty point on it or a snare that's mostly white noise, i'll go to them.

it's also fun to go through the latin house loops and play "name the UK funky tune that's built around this loop"

I have a lot of the vengeance collection.. and i really do like using them.. i do agree with the earlier comment about the claps and snares being 99% white noize, but only on the more recent vengeance packs.

so can anybody recommend sample packs of a similar reputation? gonna check out this goldbaby sample pack.. anything else though?
