I've been reading through the forums for a while, but this is my first post so hope I'm not repeating anything here. I've been trying for a while to try and get some nasty wobbles in reason 4, especially ones that use limited processing because I run an old ibook g4 1.42 ghz which can only handle so much. I had a major breakthrough the other day when I used the FM pair oscillator in Thor for the first time. Frequency modulation seems to be a really great way to get some dirty wobbles. I set the carrier to one and the "mod" to three, and then from there on out I experimented with different waves in different oscillators until I got an awesome sound. From there you can automate the lfo or use the filter envelope to shape the sound. This got me a really filthy bass sound without any further processing, but of course you can go the route of splitting the signal (running the output of your THOR through the spider audio splitter, and then splitting the frequencies into low, mid, high, and a dry signal) and applying different fx to each part of the frequency spectrum.

I never experimented with subtractor until i went to do this track.. it has a lot of potential and should def not be overlooked..
I always thought that reason was all about thor.. little did i know!

many reasons.. its a good synth! My main point was not to over look it! Thor is good.. but also give subtactor a shot!

Subtractor gives some of the nicest sounds IMO. I use subtractor in almost all my tracks =]

the tutorial you posted the other day was sick! I think it made its way in the production bible.

All you really need is a sine wave and maybe some tape... That normally works too in "dubstep"

Compress

How do you go about resampling in reason? In every other day this was simple for me but I can't seem to figure out a good method within reason.

That's what I was thinking but I wanted to know if he is exporting the whole bassline or just one long note then applying lfo/effects etc..

I think one of the main points of resampling would be to save your cpu, so I would think to apply all the fx, and then export your bassline, but leave the lfo because you can use the NNXT's lfo to modulate the filter later which should make life easier in the long run.

Lol I know it's to save CPU that's why I do it my computer is a piece of shit but I still apply lots of effects to something that I've resampled then I tend to resample that again and again until I have the sound I'm looking for I'm just use to working with audio and reason doesn't support that so the resampling is quite different to me that's why I wanted to see what other techniques people are using

Applying a vocoder to midranges and highs is nice imo.

I resample slightly differently. After putting my first sound through the sampler in reason I use a vocoder to modulate that sound into a seperate bass to get that real chunky sound. If you keep doing this getting low mid and high then you can get some real nice sounds .
