New one up on myspace - kind of a more melodic and melancholic bit. I've also rather cheekily sampled one of my favourite (non dubstep) tunes of all time.

Open the Box -

Orbital - 'The Box'?, only got it when the first synth keys came in! Big tune and this remake is good as well, I think you have got all the nice essential ear catching sound in there. The only I'm not really keen on in this tune is the main synth noise with the cutoff filter sweep on it. It just sounds a bit lacking, as in a bit basic? It's a nice idea but the timbre of that sound just sounds a bit flat to me. But this is a solid remix of The Box, well done.

I really like Judder once it got going, but it does have a very similar synth with the cutoff sweep on it. But everything else in this track is good man.

Ey up there. Just checked your track out. The ideas and elements are good. My only issue the main synth sound gives the whole track a home-made feel (which is a pity as the rest of it sounds great), which does improve in the second half of the track.

To pump up the sound a bit, try doubling it up with a similar sound. Probably a bit deeper, and with a bit of playing around with compression and EQ, would give the track a new dimension.

I kind of know what you mean about the main bassline sound, I had doubts about it which have now been confirmed.

I'll have another fiddle with the compressors and EQs, although I'm tempted to wait until next week when I am getting Cubase 4 and I can just ReWire the lot from Reason...

Anyone had experience in doing this? Any tips? I've never done it before...

I should be getting Cubase shortly as well. I'm trying to hold off because I am supposed to be revising for my medical finals (which are stupidly hard) and Cubase will take my attention away from studies.

From what I know, rewiring is not that hard. There is a very good book on how to use it. I can't remember the name, but W H Smith's are selling it for £6.

it´s quite simple...
if you have a reason project, just save it as a midi file, then connect all synths and stuff to the audio interface on top
and save the project with a new name, close reason, open cubase and import the midi, reopen the reason file,
it should be rewired now (if sx is already opened), then you have to open the reason window in cubase,
to activate the rewire channels, last step is to reassign the midi tracks to the right reason instrument (sx midi in)


by the way, i love your tune and realy like to have a 320 if you dont mind,
the synth line needs to get more boost but i think you´ll get it fixed soon

i like the melodic side of this tune, and the bassweight is heavy with lots of movement. i think those keys could be brought up a little more in the mix and take on a lil more responsibility in the tune. that bassline again tho has a lot of movement and variation. really keeps the tune going.
