A vocoder capable of doing this
Not looking for the usual retro analog kind of vocoders, rather the kind Excision uses on Subsonic.
Any vst out there that can do that or should I look on the hardware side ?
Example at 00:37 on this vid

I've been trying for a while. Find it's more about the initial synth.

This doesn't go over that exact sound but it might help you get close to it...

nah.. everyone will look over and see that op has 1266 posts.. then they'll actually go and read the question!killahbeez wrote:(waits for ppl to burn op at the stake for asking an excision related question)

Re: A vocoder capable of doing this
Probably but still the vocoder itself may make the difference. I made decent sounds with Tal Vocoder but I'm not sure that even with the appropriate patch and processing it can make such fat voices.Dr Bloodnugget wrote:I've been trying for a while. Find it's more about the initial synth.

Thanks for that, cool vid!kid simple wrote:This doesn't go over that exact sound but it might help you get close to it...

Is he the guy who made the sounds of Starcraft ? It sounds a lot like the protoss voices.
Or maybe people actually read the questions and don't flame when they haven't been asked a dozen times ?victoryaloy wrote:nah.. everyone will look over and see that op has 1266 posts.. then they'll actually go and read the question!killahbeez wrote:(waits for ppl to burn op at the stake for asking an excision related question)

Re: A vocoder capable of doing this
Which voice are we talking about here, the first one? Because I got some close representations by whacking some ring modulation and pitch shifting on my voice... If you want I can show you the audio sample (but don't steal it, I'm going to use it in a tune
)
Right, here's the sample;

And here's a screenshot of the effect window I did it in Cubase;

So it's basically, Compressor, Pitch-Shifting, Ring Modulation, Amp Distortion and Noise Gate with A Delay and two different Reverb units as Send effects... Try and replicate that and have a tweak about or something, see what you come up with

Thanks! I don't think I'll use that Kerovee plug for this task but it'll definitely be usefull for other stuff.deadly habit wrote:http://www.podcastalley.com/forum/showt ... p?t=128419

Yeah I noticed that one but found the sound examples to be too much a la Daft Punk, not really what I'm looking for.
Plus for that price I'd rather look for an used Microkorg.
Probably worth downloading the demo tho.
Thanks for sharing but it looks like a lot of processing for something you could easily do with a free vst vocoder.Dub Fiend wrote:Which voice are we talking about here, the first one? I'm just using reason mate. made a sound similar and vocode white noise underneath. From there by automating the shift you can get a few vowel type sounds out.
