My very first track.. not agressive snare help needed

Post by Octacon » Mon Aug 23, 2010 5:59 am

hey,

its my first track.

ive been working on it all afternoon... i didnt my bass or anything.

problems and help needed:

the snare sounds cheesy and annoying. but i can't manage to do anything else then really loud reverbed snares or those ones which i dont like... i like fat mid-ranged snares. likes the ones of mala but i cant figure out how to orient myself towards this type of sound (i dont think a tip or two will make me get it as he does and i dont want the exact same style as he does.. i just want to be able to do more deep dubstep, ill practice)

i have a hard time with mixes. this is what came out.

NO AUTOMATION-NO SEQUENCING. I know they are a big, if not the most important part of a tune... mine is more like a loop.. but its my first track.

the vocal sample i took + kick and snare are from vegeance dubstep cd... which i think is kinda too easy for me to wish to have my own sound. i guess itll take time... but i still wanted to complete something quickly (well...its not complete but i wont work the tune any more)

i love the works of DMZ, Toasty, etc... i know im far from them but im trying to achieve such deep vibe (in my own way
tho)...

First things first, i thought your song was very good considering it was your first....keep on keepin on. Second: You should make an account at www.soundcloud.com, it is an easy way to stream music on here, facebook, ect.

Tune is good considering that it's your first one. Little tip for the snare, try layering many snares so that you kind of build one snare from many. Then EQ and pan them until you get the sound you like. I hope this helps!

most of teh samples they use sound so ''old school''

i dont know where to get such a warm drum vibe... like the thick sounds in Haunted or in more recent stuff.
