Very split loyalties last night as a big fan of both dnb and dubstep. There was a lot of love and respect to the Channel One originators, and Soul Jazz weren’t really in it so the beef and the hype was all for Metalheadz vs Skream & Benga.
Right from the warm-up round both soundsystems were bringing out the big tunes and both crews rolling deep. Goldie, Storm, Andy C, Shy FX, GQ, Justyce, MC Rage and Stamina were shaking the Metalheadz stage, whilst Skream, Benga, Artwork, Joker, Cotti, MC Nomad and Sgt Pokes were holding it down for the dubstep heads.
With multiple b2bs in the first round, the dubstep did seem to get the crowd more hyped despite some classic Metalheadz vibes from Goldie and Storm. But when Andy C steps up and drops Messiah the fight is really on. There was plenty of smack talk between GQ and Pokes throughout but the highlight of the night was Shy FX killing it with these dubplates! The whole crowd dissolved into insanity, brocking out, cheering Shy, “oooooohh“‘s towards the quiet, empty dubstep stage…
Despite all this, it was the flag-waving, brass-toting, Rastafari Channel One who were crowned eventual winners. Respect to the old school dub riddims, but I think it is Metalheadz will be remembered for these badbwoy battle tactics!
Thanks RBMA for permit to record the whole night  SKREAM & BENGA i love you  only the perpetual MC war from GQ against Nomad and Pokes was embarrassing.
In my opinion Metalheadz won only the Mixed-Up Styles against our Dubstep KINGS !
