Dubplate question
Dubplate question
What is the protocol is someone approaches you for wavs or 320s so that they can press dubplates of your tracks to play out? I am flattered, but fear that it might get messy in some way (not sure how, but me spidey senses are tinglin). Am I just being too nervous? Any advice on this would be appreciated... not a situation I have been in before, but like the idea of my tracks being played out, etc. Thanks.
hmmm never been in that situation cuz i don't produce but from a promotional perspective it seems like a smart move. i mean you could worry about by giving someone a digital copy then it could be easily pirated if you dont trust them enough, but i think it depends on your status as a producer. if your tryin to build up your name still then spreadin your work around any way possible seems like a good idea to me man.
if you trust the person in question then no problem.

what do you mean by messy??municiple wrote:I am flattered, but fear that it might get messy in some way (not sure how, but me spidey senses are tinglin).
Generally speaking if someone is prepared to spend £25-35 cutting a dub of your tunes that shows a level of commitment to your music.
If you're that paranoid about it do the DJ a VIP version with their name over the odd drop & stuff - makes someone much much less likely to pirate/share your music.
dj's ask for your shit.cuz they are after a sound themselves.
how its always been.

Its a funny game
Only a select few have my album in full versions yet i'm seeing tracks from it on people's playlist who i have never heard of.
be careful
i watermark tracks when i give them to people i don't know too well.
place a hi hat somewhere on the track, or leave a specific length of silence at the beginning of the file.
