KORG SP200

Post by easie » Tue Sep 07, 2010 5:34 pm

i'v got a korg sp200 tht iv had for a while. i decided to make use of it as a midi controller so i bought a usb midi cable. I can't seem to get it working though. I've searched on youtube and google on how to set it up but havn't found anything that is working for me. I'm using ableton. If i go into my midi sync tab in preferences it says tht i've got an input from 'usb midi cable'. i've turned track on but it still doesn't register anything from it. the cable itself also has 2 lights which go on wen it detects information going in or out: these aren't going on either. Does anyone kno how I can get this working so i can get myself my first midi controller? Thanks

first off lets make sure you have it wired properly, your midi out on the keyboard is going to your midi in end on your midi to usb cable, and your midi in on your keyboard is going to your midi out on the cable

I feel like an absolute idiot. You are right. It works now. In my defense, i'm new to this and i figured if a wire says 'in' on it, it gets plugged into the socket that says 'in'. Thank you and sorry for wasting your time.
