Sorry I have to ask this but I need an answer

WTF is drumstep?

Is it just dubstep at 170ish bpm?

Is that what we are calling drumstep? I'm only asking because I am seeing it EVERYWHERE

As far as I'm aware it's darkstep made at halftime. I don't think all halftime drum&bass is considered drumstep at the moment..

Drumstep is a rediculously name for something which has been around for years. Its just half time dnb.

who gives a fuck... this label is catching on, so we might as well deal with it. i hear it out the mouth of kids just about every day. i'm personally not minding it.

as to define it... well people usually mean filthy half time dnb when they say it.
but really.. i say we wait and let it define itself. if lots of producers wanna produce something and call it "DRUMSTEP" .. then it will become it's own thing w/ it's own style and community. but as of yet there isn't really a distinct style that makes it different from anything that already exists.. it's still emerging, if it is to emerge at all.. so saying "THIS IS DRUMSTEP" isn't gonna really help anybody...

what exactly is the point of saying use the search? You've missed the boat on that one too seeing as he's already asked the question. If he had used the search he wouldn't have posted the Q in the first place

it's not just halftime dnb. totally not. to call all halftime dnb drumstep would be like using the same name for doctor p and buriaOH WAIT A MINUTE :o

no srsly, if it sounds like a mixture of flux pavillon and clipz it's probably drumstep. but neither amit nor donny are drumstep.

and yet they have more in common with the with the fusion and aesthetics of drum and bass and dubstep being combined to fuse into some sort of bastardized sound that need it's own new genre name...
what shall we call this...
i nominate: bassdub

still sounds like everything being called drumstep is just jump-up to me. ill just keep using the palethora of dnb subgenres to describe the vibes of all the halftime stuff. :u:

thank god i wasnt a garage head when dubstep started forming id probably have said the same thing about that.

:D

....what?
i dont see any connection between donny or amit and dubstep. and according to your logic dnb with quartertimed snares would be like [dnb + (dubstep^2)]/2 ? ? ?

okay i'm just too tired to get your post...
