Scene in Leeds?

I'm from Boston and I'm really trying to get out of the states for at least a year or 2. Every fuckin time I hear dubstep mentioned its Rusko or Borgore or Absoulte FILTHHH MANNN!!! I can't take this shit anymore. I want to be around the London area but its wayy too expensive to find anything around there.

It seems like Leeds has much lower prices in terms of finding a place to live. Just wondering how the scene is there..?

It's brilliant here :)
There's generally a least one good event on each week as it's a student city so you won't be missing out.

I'm into different types of dubstep really. I like producers like tunnidge, icicle, rustie, skream, pinch, distance, any dmz, tes la rok. Really anything but the shit that focuses solely on crazy midrange wobbles.
Into dnb too, mostly the oldschool jungle shit and tech steps not bad either.

The scene in boston has actually been growing over the past year or so, its just that the only events I find are usually brostep or jump up. No one seems to know about the real shit over here.

Talk to people. Make friends with promoters. I'm 19 and I can get into shows if need be. Unfortunately, they're all about 5 hours away from me. :'|

Alright Ill have to give it a shot. All my friends are at school and I have shit to do at home, which I guess is good cuz I just got logic studio 9 so I should have plenty of time to get to know it.

But anyways how exactly do you suggest I befriend the promoters? Not really sure where to start :?

Find out who's running a night and search for their contact details. Alternatively, hassle whoever's taking money on the door but do it SOBER or you'll just be earmarked as a tnuc (I know this from experience  ) It's a relatively 'enclosed' city given that it's the third biggest in the UK, word gets about pretty quickly.

leeds is cool, got a good music scene

i hear that ramadanman is starting a vinyl-only night called acetate at wire, but pretentious but should be interesting... then theres tropical, also at wire for your garage n funky, etc.... exodus is the biggest dubstep night in the north.... also lots of random smaller nights which come n go, theres ecelctic nights like funky wormhole n liquid steel, new bohemia maybe but i think its stopped now... i dj for cut n paste, a dubstep.hiphop.house.dnb event....

also, theres radio frequency - the biggest underground station in the north (like rinse fm, but northern), trying to sort out a legal lincense so if that all goes well then itll be a massive move for the leeds scene....

if dubstep, dnb and house are your bag, youll be well served. need more hiphop imho, though i doubt thats your main concern 8)
