pretty much any daw is gonna be perfectly capable of making beats to be honest, ableton does come with everything you need though.

id recommend cubase but unless you are gonna be working mostly in audio you will need a sampler of some description too.

why not get demos and try them out and see which you prefer?

All daws do essentially the same thing. A sequencer is a sequencer is a sequencer is a sequencer. A piano roll is a piano roll is a piano roll is a piano roll. A flanger... its a flanger...

Question becomes what color do you want everything? Do you windowed or non windowed workflow? Where do you want your effect rack positioned on screen?

Your making great tunes on whatever you use already man. IDK why youd wanna set yourself back to learning a whole new daw when your just getting to where I wanna mix your stuff

Its a load of shit... Though, Fruity limiter and the fruity synths... Id be willing to believe those are colored. But meh. He even said he's using non standard plugins  ... so thats not valid. Hell, if hes using non standard synths in plugins, its CANT be the DAW's fault. That would mean the engine itsself would be colored... which isnt the case at all.

Renders = Done through processor. Soundcards only handle playback.

And dont blame your processor either, Im on a p3.

thierry, i love you buddy but you need to learn how to search...

and anybody who says they "know" something has been written in fl, especially your work, is not only jealous but speaking out of their ass.

With no personal offense intended - as I haven't actually listened to your stuff - the answer to "my beats sound like shit, is it because i'm using xyz DAW?" is, almost without exception, "no, your beats sound like shit because you need to learn how to produce".

the tune in your sig doesnt sound cheap, if you hadnt have said fruity loops i wouldnt of been able to guess it was made in there.

ableton is sick thou, but at the end of the day...if you like using fruity loops, and can do everything you want in there, USE IT!

Ableton is the shit. Although the sound quality will be pretty much the same no matter the DAW, I find Ableton to be the easiest to learn and use properly. I'm sure that many people have a different opinion, but for me, after playing through a great number of other programs, Ableton was the way to go.

do it man ableton's sick. Its just as good as anything else out there. I think the workflow trumps logics, the sound design potential in ableton's unreal....just look out for some video's on the web. the native plug ins in logic are probably better than ableton's but lets be frank yer? Who gives a shit....im sure the difference in quality is marginal, but you know neeks and fanboys man, they'll fight over the most stupid things. Im pretty sure most people use third party plug ins anyways so the whole arguments a load of tosh anyways regardless of whichever DAW you produce on

truth be told mate, if you're a shit producer....your DAW aint gonna make you sound better .... stick to what suites you best, be it ableton/logic/windows sound recorder.

peace
