Reggae Roast with ABA SHANTI-I / 20k Sound system / £5 Entry

Post by reggae roast » Fri Sep 24, 2010 2:45 pm

REGGAE ROAST | SATURDAY 23RD OCTOBER | 9PM - 3AM

As a summer of festivals and rammed out dances at the Big Chill House comes to an end, Reggae Roast is moving to a new home for the autumn months with a selection of our biggest guest artists this year. The basement at The City Arts & Music Project Basement on Old St Roundabout is an intimate, underground venue with a massive 20kw sound system. Its the perfect location for a string of new late night sessions, featuring some of the UKs most legendary Reggae artists.

For the first Reggae Roast session in the basement we are honored to welcome one of the most well respect sound system operators in the world; Aba Shanti-I. Over the past 18 years Aba Shanti-I has been played his unique sound in venues throughout the world, developing a dedicated & loyal following from all walks of life. They come because an Aba Shanti-I session is synonymous with a vibe unmatched by your average club or DJ. It is not about what you look like, it's about who you are and what is in your heart. People come to discard their worries and to loose themselves in the music and by doing so, cast off the mental shackles from their minds and be free. Anyone who has visited the legendary Aba Shanti-I sounds system at Notting Hill Carnival will know the energy this man is capable of generating. He has been a massive inspiration to Reggae Roast and we are really looking forward to what is set to be an amazing event.

Also playing on the night will be founders of Reggae Roast Exel & Moodie, residents Louis Slipperz & Dub Hunter, alongside special guest Bantu Messenger all the way from Tanzania. Expect to hear the freshest selection of classic Revival, Dub, Steppers, Dubstep and Digi-Roots hosted by the veteran MC Ishu.

This first dance at The City Arts & Music Project will set the tone for Reggae Roast session over the coming months, with an emphasis on big baselines in a new, positive atmosphere. Hold tight for announcements of some very special guests booked for November & December, as reggae roast showcase the best artists from across the UK and beyond. This event is only £5 before 12am and capacity is limited to 350 so arrive early for guaranteed entry.
