Zeitgeist Sessions. A journey through bass music on vinyl.
The Hardcore Continuum is shifting again. After spawning dubstep, grime and funky house in the last couple of years, it is bubbling again with fresh ideas, new beat patterns and sub frequency styles. But as long as the new sound isn't fixed it's hard to give it a name. So we present you the Zeitgeist Sessions.
In order to know where we're going we have to know where we came from:
This party will be a night with El-B, supposedly the key player in the beginnings who has been a major influence to almost anyone who went down to foward parties in the golden age of dubstep. He is on a roll pushing the sound further yet again. For his appearance at the Yaam he brings a special selection of records alluding to the cuban music that has so influenced his musical career! So expect the finest of 2-step, garage, grime and dubstep spiced up with the sweetest carribean seasoning you can imagine.
El-B will be supported by ACE, a true master on the wheels of steel. Owner of Tam Tam Records, Aachen and resident at Tam Tam's Massive Tunes party for over a decade now, he has witnessed all shifts of the Hardcore Continuum since it all started when Acid Techno turned into Jungle. Tonight he will be releasing fire on the dancefloor with his unique selection of dubstep, funky, 4x4 techno and next level shit in general.
For those of you who didn't witness his set at the 2009 Fete de la musique check what others thought of him:
roko wrote:fucking sick set, 110% fire. loved every single tune pretty much...Dazid wrote:nice location! big upz out to Ace, great set on yesterday!
huge big ups, ace!! stinker after stinker, brutal set.
Warming up will be the mighty Craftsman, and Mene Axelrod. Both are regulars at the Dubcafé Shanglhangl where they present their take on the nuum every Sunday night...
Host of the night will be Tom Battery, also of Dubcafé Shanglhangl fame. He will start the dance with his special selection of dub, roots reggae and lovers rock, catching the mic afterwards to guide you on this journey.
To guarantee you an extra sub loaded experience all DJs will be playing good old vinyl – no digital djing here!
