Ok, so I was bored of Fruity's dull look, so I searched around the internet for some skin templates so I could make my own.. to no avail.. (I did find a skinning tutorial though)
However, I did find this site:
http://www.theflipsideforum.com/index.php?board=33.0
It requires registration, but the amount of skins on there, its worth it..
I don't know much about skinning other DAW's, but ill search around and post my findings in this thread

Soundcloud
When I first knifed man, it felt funny
Next day come, it became funny

You can customise ableton quite a lot with this program:
http://sonictransfer.com/ableton-live-skin-editor.shtml
I've got a fair few custom skins I use. My favourite is in the same colour scheme as my top soundcloud player in my sig
As for reason I don't think customisation is available.

Can you pimp out Cubase? only recently started using this, would love an instrumental picture of rocky or something in the background!

Reaper users are always the first to turn a thread into a "My DAW is better than yours" debate XD

that wasn't my intention.. I saw people mentioning other DAWs so I figured I'd mention Reaper.

I used to use it for ages till I got the customiser now I never do. You can make much better ones than the default pack if you take a few minutes to do it right.

frost suits me so well that it seems pointless to waste the time making a skin when i could be doing functional things in ableton.
