Tell me about CDJ's....

Post by arktrix45hz » Tue Oct 12, 2010 3:08 pm

I currently use vinyl and I'm looking to expand to using CDJ's as well.

They'd be for home/practice use. So I'm not looking at anything to OTT (Pioneer models).
I want to be able to do the old reeeeewinds, but no scratching.
I was looking at either Numark NDX400 or Gemini 210..what say you?

Can only rewind on CDJ800's upwards.
I had some CDJ100's ...cheap, simple to use, do the job.

Can sort of rewind on the 400s but no slowdown so can only spin back whilst playing unless you put the pitch change on "wide" and gradually slow it down using the pitch control which is fiddly, 400 does have a chopping feature for loops (don't think the 800 has this?) which is quite good but mp3 feature is crap takes too long to load the tunes and can only do 30 secs of a rewind then embarrasing silence - may as well get an 800 as its only slightly more expensive but then again those slowdown buttons do get worn out easily and don't work properly a lot of the time in clubs anyway.

Its not for 30 seconds - it only stores 30 secs of the tune in memory so its more like 2-3 secs if you spin it fast!

Interested in hearing about these or the 800's too. Haven't ever DJ'd before and i'm a student so these seem about right. From what i've heard they do the job pretty well, but as they're newish to the market it's hard to find anything online from people who have actually used them. And no i wont be able to afford pioneers before anyone attacks.

Honestly the best set of CDJ's you can get for your money would have to be the Stanton c324's

They have loads of features including :

4 Hot Cues
6 Onboard effects
Scratching and rewind ( and touch rewind )
And so much more.

Its very accurate and the CDJ platers are just the perfect size.

Not to mention there very sturdy and will last you quiet a long time.

And finally the price is just perfect. $400 Retail, but you can get these for about $200 each online on ebay and such.
Ive had these babys for over half a year now, and i have to say i like them better then the Pioneer CDJ 800 ( which cost $800 a peice, with no hot cue or effects.... ouch )

if you want a CDJ with everything, with out the heavy cost, the Stanton CDJ c324 are the way to go

I'll tell you about CDJs. CDJs are queer, and rewinds on CDJs sound like a pair of cuntflaps sliding down a window at full speed.

Ay 10bag, you got any more shirts? Howd the sales on those babys go?

And if you getting anything less than a pioneer 800, your going to waste money in the long run.

Rewinds aint great but you are a bellend, enough serato djs like u end up having to use cdjs as a controller bcos promoters haven't set up their rig properly and needles jump at any volume - mabeye if you were getting booked more often u might know this?

Unless your actually cutting all dubs u can stfu about cdjs and even if you were cutting its not something to go hating on other ppl over as very few are rich enough to afford that shit these days even some those who can afford it are choosing not to purely to avoid the stress (Skream, Benga, Loefah, Joker etc etc) whether djs play serato or cdjs makes fuck all difference its still not real vinyl so get over yourself

Never heard a cdj play itself backwards (unintentially), switch itself off or actually die midset yea laptops are great aren't they?

This, i never use cdj's personally but have nothing against them - they are efficient and reliable for the best part. especially when playing out, and yes £10 bag, you clearly do not get many bookings if that is the way you think...... you can cut as many dubs as you want, but if your not even getting the chance to travel a bit and play them out whats the point? you gonna sit around and listen to them at home?.... oh sorry, i guess you would use a DIGITAL format for that now wouldn't you?

people being chin stroking mother fuckers about CDJ's who arn't even well know/well respected or who dont even make music in the first place is ridiculous. Jog On.

lol, how so?

Yes Vinyl is the real heart and soul of mixing. Takes alot more skill and really teaches you exactly what mixings all about. But you cant tell me that its not 100 times easier to load a song with cdj's rather then pulling out a new vinyl every song or 2. With them being easier allows for so many new possabiltys for extreme tricks that even the grandmasters of vinyl may never be able to acomplish.

30 years form now people will be saying the same thing about CDJ's cause they use CDs instead of flash drives ( or who knows what they will use by then ). Dont get me wrong, i highly respect vinyl, but you got to see the way of the future man.
