Librarian, Pinch, & Daega Sound in Van City

Post by wobbafet » Mon Oct 18, 2010 5:00 am

Took the trip from Kamloops to Vancouver to see these three amazing people do their thing at the M2 Storyeum in Gastown on Friday night...
absolutely stellar. Librarian blew my mind with some really fresh stuff, including some future-garage and really forward sounding tracks to tickle my brain. Pinch was epic! played lots of stuff I've never even heard, Redlight's MDMA, and his Double Edge remix. Some real crushers, really enjoyed it. Daega Sound System opened up with Kane's Son, one of my all time faves, and their whole set was reallll dark stuff. Loved it all.
I've never been to a dubstep rave before (due in part to where I live... small town in Canada). I really didn't know what to expect when I showed up, the venue being some kind of art space but luckily having a bar open until 2AM, but I had a great time even though I really had to push myself to keep up until 4AM or so.
My only complaint was the sound system itself... it seemed like something was lacking unless you were right up front. otherwise, it just didn't pound much throughout the room.
Any Vancouverites or western Canadians show up to this? Pics? Commentary?
This just in: slow & heavy dubstep. A work-in-progress, so if you can, please provide feedback. Listen up!
