I was just reading through some of the tuts, just to look for little ideas i might not have thought of on my own. And some of the posts send me off into a rage due to the sheer inadequacy (silly questions) of some of the posters, so i registered just to flip 'em off. (Im not talking about the makers of those tut's btw. They did a good job on it.)
Luckily halfway through the process i came to my senses. But jeh, now i'm registered i might as well post something..

When i have the space for it i like to put a Frequency shifter on a snare or clap. Turn down the mixlevel to about 20%(even lower) so the clap or snare's transient stays intact. Play with it a bit to look for what's possible. It should leave a nice little tail and it sparked a really nice idea with me so i hope it does for you too.

When I started reading your post I got all ready to stick my dick in your eye but by the time I got to the end I realised you seem decent enough XD Welcome to the forums man, there's a lot of bitching, ass licking and waste posts but in amongst that are some really talented artists and extremely helpful insights into production and music creation in general.
