Bat For Lashes
Anyone else a fan?
Was listening to Two Suns again today - definately one of my favourite albums of recent years. Beautiful stuff! Hope she has another album in the pipeline and/or we get married one day.
Can anyone recommend anything similar?

Didn't know he'd remixed her stuff, will check it out.
And found a similar sound in Our Broken Garden on their album Golden Sea. Nice music, but missing the magic that Ms Khan brings to the table

Hmm.. MIA had quite similar thingish with her first two albums... Glasser, Telepathe, Peaches, Goldfrapp, Yeah Yeah Yeahs?Random Eyez wrote:Can anyone recommend anything similar?
Pushing it a bit but shes really quite original, which is what I loved about her so much- Glasser comes closest probably

Already aware of most of them, although not too familiar with Telepathe so will check them out.
Yet to hear Glassers new album but heard the EP and it sounded good, quite an original sound.
But with BFL its more the haunting atmospherics, other-worldy vibes, not to mention her voice that does it for me. Suppose its a good thing no one sounds too similar, but she had better be workin on a new album.
Now lets fight!

Yeah I discovered Glasser when she was supporting The XX on tour, she was far better than them infact, I found their live presence quite poor and the poor sound system couldn't handle the bass.
If Glasser ever come back to Britain I recomend going to see her, she has these two hooded men doing the beats while she runs around whooping, pretty infectious really.
For her voice- I was listening to Charlotte Gainsbourg the other day- pretty similar voice surprisingly considering she's french
Also Fever Ray! Can't believe I forgot her, I'm perhaps even more in love with her than Natasha, so we can avoid fighting, for now

Saw The XX at Glastonbury and they sounded really good. You're right in saying they don't have much of a stage presence but, with with a stripped down sound like theirs, there's not much that can be added.
Look forward to seeing Glasser at some point, sounds good.
And i'm a fan of Charlotte Gainsbourg and Fever Ray too, particularly Gainsbourg - loved her latest album!
So yeah, knuckle dusters down and lets just appreciate sexy women that can sing
