from the preview or commercial whatever you wanna call it, it looks like one of those shit shows that younger tweens are going to emulate and people will blame the shitty tv show instead of shitty parents and gain rating due to media shock effect

Luckily we have good TV in the US so no one will actually watch this.
Coming of age dramas don't really do well in the US. My So Called Life, Freaks and Geeks, etc even tho they get critical acclaim, generally don't do well here.

...US remake...
zzzzzzzzzz
edit: seriously though, why is it that
some Americans think there have to be "US" remakes of things? Is the assumption that Americans are simply unable to understand other cultures and so have to translate things into their own language? Or is there something satisfyingly imperialist about creating poor renditions of things (which are sometimes poor to begin with) that other cultures create?
The very fact that "US remake" has become a term in common usage is strange enough in itself.
Disclaimer: I'm not trying to step on anyone from the US's toes, I know you all get a bad rep from the rest of the world (often unfairly) but I find this whole "US remake" phenomenon really irritating, and very arrogant of *US media types*. What is the point in it?
Oh, and Skins was shit to begin with.

It's mostly because at best your country comes up with decent stories and ideas but is incapable of the production value that is the US standard.
Also your country typically does 6 episode 'seasons' where as the standard in the us is usually 12-24 episodes a season.
So take Inbetweeners for example... great show... those of us who are fluent in britt slang get the show but outside that it's not really fit for US tv. A show that only had 6 episodes in a season would be forgotten fairly easy here.
Where as in the US, our average shows like The Event, Lost, Fringe, Breaking Bad, etc etc etc are of a value that surpasses 99% of the movies your country puts out.... so you guys syndicate it in your country.

this, plus most foreign shows have to be dumbed down for the average american viewer and people who don't understand accents or are too lazy to read subtitles.
take the unnecessary shot for shot remakes hollywood churn out such as [rec] to quarantine with nothing added to them
also original writing/ideas doesn't seem to be a strong point of hollywood for a hot min now
sequels, rehashes and remakes get the financing since there is little risk to them if they were already successful
thanks though this reminded me i haven't watched the latest ep of dexter yet
