I was at Sonar a few years back but i didnt enjoy it that much. There were just far too many people there. Getting from the CCCB when the daytime stuff ended to the gargantuan night area was chaos, far too many people trying to squeeze onto the buses and no taxis. Getting in, going for a piss, buying a drink (tickets first, then the drink itself) all meant waiting in a queue, and then losing your mates.

Small festivals are the way to go!

2006 was the first Sonar in ages that I didn't go to. I'm not so into the actual festival these days - the lines ups have been pretty weak the last few years.

Saying that I'm still thinking of paying a visit to Barcelona around the time of the festival...Such a mad city. Could easily see myself moving out there one day..

Hopefully someone will get on the case and organise a smaller dubstep party outside of the festival - thats def where you find the better events going down..

Was planning not to go to any of the official night time shit and just go to clubs but the dubstep is going to make me be there one night anyway. Not such a big deal getting out there to be honest and I've never found the size a problem (yeah it's huge, but it's not rammed, easy to keep track of folk as long as you say "if I don't see you for a bit catch you at X in a bit"). Only problem for me is that I don't find minimal suits enormous venues, better in a sweaty club. This being because it's meant to be the kind of music you get lost in etc. Dubstep maybe a wee bit more suited as long as the sound is right, brapping down the front for rewinds should work fine on the big stage :)

At first sight looks like it's the best line up in 4 or 5 years. It's true they're a little late supporting dubstep but they've always been guided by trends so...

Would be great to meet some heads there, I bet the dubstep room is not gonna be full house. Couple years ago we were just a handful of people on the MRK1 set when there was like 15000 in the room next to it :?

THERE!

mate's getting married about a week afterwards in the alps ... arrive about a week early, meet peeps from melbourne, have apartment there for a week, sonar all weekend, then slowly drive up the spanish and french coasts up into the mountains, friend's wedding, then back to finland in the middle of summer -- midnight sun, lakes and islands as far as the eye can see.

wow... this is great news.. i'm running a stall in sonar and thought it would be the same crap with last year, i thought of it as strictly business, good news now though, there's interesting stuff and the dubstep additions is just what i needed...
Just hope they dont play in one of the smaller crapier sound systems, most of the night setups is decent, but some of the morning venues are really crap, i heard az rotator last year with a system with no subs.. what were these guys thinkin??
