we'll, is it?
i was thinking of getting "B" from dmz001 cut since it's the only tune i like from the first release and it'd probably cost me half as much as trying to buy the tune off ebay...plus it'd be niffty to have it on dub ; ]

I don't see how it would be any ethically/legally different from downloading the mp3 and playing it out with Traktor/FS/SL.

Try paying £35 in the UK
Thats what I used to pay for a 10" in the early days

yeah i don't see it being any different than burning it to a cd. you have the rights to it now that you've paid for it.

absolutely nothing wrong with that in my eys.
a bit foolish tho. i would set about trying to lay hands on an uncompressed copy. (yeah, ask mala i reckon).
obv man could put it on cdj but itsa just not the same is it.
yeah, actually $40 for a 12 sounds better than what i woul expect to pay.

Cutting a dub of an mp3 seems a bit of a waste, being a lossy format and what not. Most vendors sell FLAC and WAV files as well these days though, and they should do the trick. Still, in the long run, if you're gonna use digital formats anyway, you might as well get Serato or something similar.

a lot of people cut from 320k MP3. It's not ideal but it's certainly doable.
btw if you're really serious about cutting a tune you can't source the vinyl for, consider using someone like
www.dubstudio.co.uk - they cut to 'vinyl' (actually PVC) so it won't wear out like acetate.

yeah i've heard dubs of 320s and they sound fine.
assuming the cutting house knows their ass from their elbow it should turn out fine.

whoa thats cool! takes away one of the drawbacks of vinyl.... any downsides to pvc?
yeah if i were you i would just use a cd deck or FS2/serato. its essentially the same concept no? if youve already got the technology to play the mp3 like vinyl then it wont cost u anything and u wont have to worry about how the sound quality from cutting an mp3 would come out.

this looks amazing, and the price is realy affordable. And whats the drawback ?
how is One side vs Both sides ? any problems with using Both sides?
This means I can keep on being a vinyl only idiot . . .

Only used them once so far and everything is perfect. Henry at Dubstudio knows his shit and has been cutting for years. Alot of the Bristol lot use em and ive not heard of a single problem.

word...
so the consensu here seems to be that it'd be fine.
i'm not too worried about the quality of a 320 being cut, there's been plenty vinyl releases pressed from 320s that sound fine, so to me that's not a super big issue.
i want to get it cut becaue a) i dont own cdj's nor do i really like them & b) i don't have serrato (nor a quality sound card for my laptop), & c) dubplates > either of those formats anyway ; )
p.s. how do i get in contact with mala (myspace)? would he even be willing to sell me a .wav file of "B"? (if they even still have the original files left...).

you know what i am pretty sure the masters for dmz001 are lost and thats why it was never repressed.
the 320 is on bleep, anyway.
