as i said on the post on facebook that you deleted this whole ransoming tunes/mixes thing is getting real old and lame, people should become fans for the content not because people are spamming it about or have a carrot dangled in front of their face, especially if you're in it for the love of deeper dubstep you should just offer it up no strings attached so people don't use facebook and don't want to don't get excluded
as much as i'm not a fan of the content on the main dubstep facebook group at least they don't use these tactics and manage to grow just fine
also wanting lets see at this point 2500 more fans to post up a dj mix.. eh

Which is why every mix I do/get given goes up for free download and that is the way it will always stay. Allow keeping amazing music to yourself to try and build some sort of internet reputation off the back of...

I agree.

Trying to be overly exclusive is also a problem.

The reason I deleted your post is because I don’t want pointless, negative comments on the page................

The other social network groups on the internet have become HUGE in a very short space of time and I feel that they are showing a side of Dubstep that miss represents everything I love and got into Dubstep for.

I agree in a lot of ways that people should "Like" the page for that reason and that reason only, but these other social networks on the net are growing an astronomical rate and feel if there isn't a large social network that is devoted to the deeper side, and quickly, I have a feeling it will be drowned out by the other big players around.

This is already leading people that are into the deeper side feel isolated and I know artists that have out right stopped producing deep Dubstep because they are getting lost, not to mention the problem labels have justifying the time and money on deep artists in a market dominated by big aggressive fodder.

The free give a ways are a way to attract a fan base at a quicker rate than just posting up tunes and waiting for it to grow organically and I don't think this is "lame or old".
We will continue to give away free Mixes and Tunes, and when we have a large enough fan base, we will not be asking for further Likes in exchange.

Some people might not agree with this, but the only way we can justify paying for tunes and mixes to artists/DJ's, is if we can get a fan base in exchange.
If you don't agree with this, then you don't have to visit the page.

Completely agree. I'd love to hear a new Synkro mix but when you see stuff like this, it makes you think "sod it, I'll wait".

I'm not interested in Facebook or one of the trillions of faceless dubstep groups on it. I never go on it - think it's a waste of time. It's the beats and mixes that people care about. A thumbs up or becoming a fan of something on Facebook means literally nothing. Lame indeed.

can see your point deadly habit, but people are only going to like deep dubstep if they actually like it, it's not like people like rusko because they heard one tune sort of business. So it's just a way of encouraging people to listen to tunes, buy tunes and so on.

I'm all for "it's about the music" but at least it gives artists who deserve credit a bit more exposure..

Thanks Bolsty, someone who actually gets what we are trying to do with some positive things to say instead of ranting.

Most people that have said negative things on this post just sound like they are annoyed that they are not getting the mix now.

I do agree that there is a lot of crap on facebook, but there are also a lot of great things about it with some great artists and labels sharing good music.

We have already given away some amazing music from Kromestar and Synkro (to name a few) and have got more tunes/mixes in the pipeline to give away for free.

We hope to get to a big enough fan base in time to be able to get music from the artists for free, with the notion for the artist that we can potentially give away a very large quantity of free downloads that will boost their profile. Hopefully this will lead them to other ventures that make far more money than selling a record, likes gigs ect, ect.
But while we are growing, we will be paying the artists for their work.

Without fans though, there is only a certain amount of time and money we can put in before we are forced to quit.
I have faith that there are enough people out there that do see us as a positive entity and support what we do.

The facebook page will always push quality and will also continue to give away quality music for free.

what money is going into a facebook group and using soundcloud for your hosting?
is it a label or distro or something heading this group or something?
and why does there need to be thousands and thousands of facebook fans for it to be relevant?
social networking and the internet while handy marketing tools are hardly representative of what goes on in real life and sales wise
i mean call it negative if you want, hell the first time you did it with the free synkro tune giveaway i defended it and spammed about to people i thought it would be relevant to
the next time i said oh look this again
this time, jesus fucking christ come up with a new marketing ploy and don't call it about the music

On the one hand I agree deadly's points, it's an odd way of promotion and has a little hint of desperation to it as in a 'look at us, we need all the help
we can get through popularity", why does there have to be a caveat attached?

On the other hand I think what you are doing is good, giving away free mixes. They should be free then, most blogs give mixes away without
any pre conditions, perhaps it's time to ditch Facebook. Personally I deleted my account a couple of years ago. It's a waste of time imho.

I can't get the mix, and I wouldn't mind hearing it. Bummer!

honestly i'm sure i'm not the only one, by the time it hits 10,000 fans or whatever unless it gets spammed about again i'll probably have forgotten about the mix and have moved on to one of the tons of other free mixes online and end up downloading it later on in passing on the occasion it gets brought up to me or i get drawn in from something else on the group
the group needed close to 3000 more "fans" when you posted it



that's cool you want more fans and exposure for deep dubstep, but you're doing a good job of isolating some of the ones you already have

Seems you are saying because we are making people wait, (for a WAV mix with exclusive tracks mixed by Synkro!), we are isolating people?
Quite frankly your argument stands no grounds and is total rubbish!

I might add at this point that a sold compilation can be promoted for 3 months or more after it's finished and we posted this up 2 weeks ago, it's hardly a long time people have been waiting is it.

All I hear is rant, rant, rant, rant...................Excuse me while I go and shoot myself!

Anyway, we have just posted up a free download from Kromestar if anyone wants to download it.

is this group ran by a label or distro of some sort? hell even a booking agency? because most of the posts and giveaways seem to be mainly by the same artists...
how is there money invested if it's on free services?
all i here is no answers to the points i'm making (there are loads of mixes with no caveat to them with exclusive tracks mixed by established names as well)

Sorry Mike, I really don't want to argue with you, if you had a problem with the way we do things, 1 you could have emailed me or 2, you could have not visited/supported the page.
I did not appreciate the negative feedback on a public post, or this one here.

I have taken your view on board and we will no longer be asking for "likes" in exchange for free music.

We will give the Synkro Mix away on Friday the 3rd of December.

lol there's a difference from being negative and expressing a point, i love deep dubstep, i love the artists you guys post up about, in general i dislike the whole x ammount of fans for something unless it's the label or artist doing it and not a group that's supposed to be for exposing people to the deeper side of the genre which should just be there and people to "fan" to the group as it's public as is.
also i have a sneaking suspicion since you keep dodging the question that the group is being run by a label, distro, or booking agency as a marketing tool for a certain stable of artists, which is cool if there was some transparency to it. hell if i'm off base i apologize in advance.
just because someone has a differing opinion or wants to offer up some advice doesn't mean you should censor them
