hey im a senior in high school and my friend and i have been given the chance to dj prom. We are the only kids in our school who listen to "good" music so im just wondering if anyone has some suggestions on some really hyphy banger songs. Not necessarily dubstep but house music and techno. We are using alot of skrillex and many others. Thanks

Well, it's just you're called real music is dub when I'm guessing you're referring to dubstep?

and then you ask for stuff like Skrillex who is awful.

Sorry to take the piss like this. Hope you have a good prom.

.

rofl of course he referring to dubstep xD, i call dubstep dub all the time ( yes i know the difference, Dub is Reggae without vocals basically, but i still say dub so :P lol ).

Hmm, but your looking for something to play at a highschool...... umm if your looking for a real high power song, you should bust this out as your grand finally xD

That songs guaranteed to blow the roof off the house :D

why are kids like you still around :(

It's music... quit trying to break the styles off from eachother and worry about how you can further / better the genre... they'll be split off and considered 2 diff things in time

I've been DJing a lot of different raves/parties, including proms, for 3 years now. Be careful about playing music that hits as hard as Skrillex. Most people are not prepared or into music that is that ridiculous (myself included). The proper setting for Skrillex is the young hardcore rave scene if you ask me.

Now as far as tracks go for playing at your prom, here's a little list that you might want to look into. I'm a big fan of dubstep influenced house myself.

A1 Bassline - Breathless (Original Mix)
30hz - Daddio feat. Yolanda (Miles Dyson Remix)
Radiohead - Pyramid Song (Zeds Dead Illuminati Remix) [every thing Zeds Dead touches is pretty much gold]
The Squatters - On Fire (Original Mix)
Voodoo Chilli - Ya Dance So Sexy Baby (Original Mix)
Drop The Lime - Sex Sax (Bart B More Remix)
Michael Jackson - Thriller (Laidback Luke Bootleg)
Stripper, DJ Omega - Stripper Theme (Original Mix)

Be sure to include some pop good remixes as well [there are a lot out there, hunt for them]. That way you don't have to play shitty music, but people who like popular music will still feel satisfied (win/win).

Also, the general discussion of this forum might not have been the best place to ask this.

headhunter "sex at the prom"

jokes. i don't understand why a DJ needs to ask what they should play.

ffs it's a high school prom not a rave
should be trying to get some bump and grind and slow dances on
not moshing and brocking out with the bros

prom's about getting laid at the end of the night; not sure how squealing robots are going to set the mood.
